I hope I’m not alone in feeling like the design tool is struggling a little. I’ve found that over the past few weeks that it is bogged down. Saving seems slow and I have to wait for it to do so before I can move on to the next part of the design. Copy paste has been all over the place. I find that if I ctrl+c only once and then ctrl+p it pastes from the previous time, not the object I just copied. So I am now in the habit of hitting ctrl+c 2 or 3 times before I try and ctrl+p. Also sometimes when it pastes, it places it somewhere else on the design field, not right where it was copied from. I am also finding the dragging and object from place to place is sometimes jumpy. I’ll move it from here to there and let go only to see it jump to somewhere in between. I go to grab it again and the object shoots off a bit, I’ve still grabbed it, but not where I tried too. And I have been running into the “Continue and try again” (I think) pop up. This used to happen if my wireless signal dropped. Rare, but it happened from time to time. It is the first thing I check when that pop up shows up. But lately the signal is still strong and the pop up occurs. Often when trying to copy paste. Once or twice I have simply hit done and then been able to go back in and work. But more often lately I can’t. I have to close down that window… after checking that it saved… usually wait 5 - 10 minutes and then reenter the design. Sometimes I can finish before the sillies start happening again. Sometimes not. I have not lost any work yet, but am struggling to get work done, that’s for sure.
Anyone else experiencing difficulties like these?? If it’s just me then maybe this laptop is getting tired… or something…
OK, so my deal lately has been trouble resizing or positioning an element, (like a rectangle border, type, image, anything), even when it’s on the top layer of the Layer palette. Z will jog whatever I’ve selected to another layer. No matter how many times I do it. So I have to end up hiding ALL the layers, except the one I need to change, then it will let me work with the one I want to work with. Which is a drag, because I need to SEE the other layers to know where to position this one I’m working on. So I’ve been doing a lot of “blind” shifting around, then unhinding the other layer(s) to see if I got it right, then going through that all again, until its ok. Sometimes there are several layers (5 or more), so don’t know if that’s it. But it’s never done this before until recently. I’m on MacBook with Safari. No other issues, so . . . ?
Interesting @CrazyMermaid I usually have My Account open in a tab, a store in a tab, and the design I’m working on open in a tab, as well as the forum. I have not been able to design much lately due to this and am getting really frustrated. I am updating a boy birthday card and turning it into a girl birthday card and the 2nd time I copy pasted I was hit with the continue and try again error. My cards do have lots of layers too, but they are needed to have the functionality I want. @Mark This is starting to be super frustrating. This never used to happened until a month or so ago. I love making my cards here and they sell well. Please get with the team to help fix whatever has changed. Chat me if you need to. I’ll provide as much info as I can to help get this squared away.
I have found that opening more than 3 Zazzle windows affects performance. I often cut and paste between versions and can get carried away. The error you describe above is one of those that happens when I open more than 3 Zazzle windows. It also happens when I work with too many layers. So I have switched to Photoshop to create my complex frames.
Just wanted to check in on this thread as I was just prevented from completing a design again. Mighty frustrating. I was hoping … and it seemed for a bit… that things were getting better, and then the “Continue and try again” pop up appeared… signal is good. Clicked done and tried to reenter the design tool only to see that the last 10 or so items added to the design were not there and that I could not select an object other than the one that was selected when the design tool opened. So I’ve closed it, decided to post here and will be off to RW stuff and then bed…
Have things gotten better for others? Are others still having issues?
I posted about this in the technical forum. It used to be a slight lag once in a while, which is normal for any site, but the past few days it’s been practically unusable. I posted the Speedtest results in the other thread: Ping: 22, Download: 118.42, Upload: 11.76. I’m on Firefox, Windows 7, but it’s a fast gaming laptop, and Zazzle is the only site having issues.
I have fiber internet, the fastest package money can buy, and frequently upload folders of photography that are 2+ gigs in size in just a few short minutes without a burp, and the zazzle design tool lags pretty bad for me sometimes. It comes and goes. But it gets so bad I literally have to just walk away because I can’t get anything done in a reasonable time. We also play online games in this house that are very graphic intensive and they never lag, even with multiple people streaming games at the same time on busy mmo servers. But if I’m working on my zazzle store and the only one home on the internet, I’ll experience lag on the zazzle design tool, which shouldn’t happen. I highly doubt it’s on my end. And since so many other people are experiencing it, I’m quite sure it’s on zazzle’s end.
I am glad you mentioned that because I almost forgot that my images have not been uploading recently either. I get an error message 9 out of 10 times which has kept me from making fresh designs.
I was also going to blame my slow connection but I can upload to other sites without issues.
Thanks @Mark for having the team look into it and THANKS to everyone that posted, as now I don’t feel it is my laptop or something that I am doing that is causing these issues. I can’t remember if it started around the drag and drop time or the grouping and tiling time… but it has been on going for at least a few weeks. And seems to be getting worse… I wondered for a few days if it was somehow tied to the new forum… Oh the things we wonder. Hopefully things can get sorted as I have a plethora of designs that I would like to create.
Cheers,
PC
I feel funny “kudoing” everyone’s posts as I feel kudos should be a good thing and not an agreement that things aren’t quiet right…lol… but thanks again for everyone else chiming in.
Thanks for posting this. It started when they added the Drag and Drop stuff. I have been having all of the above problems and then rectangles appear all over the place. It is much harder to design quickly and efficiently. I thought it was just me not adapting well to change, so I didn’t post.
