Only getting one page from marketplace feed 2 pages: [1] 2
Posted: Friday, October 05, 2012 10:13:56 PM
I've suddenly lost the ability to pull more than one page from the marketplace in my ZSB shop that I'm rebuilding. It has always worked fine until now. Has something changed?

Here's what it looks like now:
Sort by: date created | popularity Showing 1 - of products.

The bold and italic font should be showing a page 2, page 3, page 4, etc.

Thanks.

in searching the 'net for a solution, I found paperdinosaur seems to have the same issue. Isn't that one of our Zazzle forum reps or something? Maybe this is a problem bigger than my site after all....

The ps parameter seems to be wonkers.
ps Page size, or the number of products per page
I get from 10 to 841 returns.
The limit was been from 1 to 100 products per request since forever.

The isz image size parameter has not worked for a few weeks also.
isz Image size, the size of the product images in your feed.
This parameter may be set to tiny, small, medium, large, huge.

Anybody know who at Zazzle I should contact about this? I need this fixed!

Thanks for the post. These two issues have been logged internally already. There is no ETA for a fix listed in the ticket.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering what happened.

Now the ps variable (number of products) in the rss feed seams to work but returns 4 times the entered value ie ps=2 returns 8 products.
The pg variable (page) still doesn't work it always returns page 1 for pg 1 to 3. Above that pg > 3 the ps value suddenly works and returns the correct number of products.

Zazzle could you please prioritize this.

Also the thumbnail size has changed for the "small" thumbnail it returns a 92x92pixel image instead of 113x113 that it used to do (even if isz variable still is 113).
All thumb sizes seams be the same except small. Instead of 113 you can now get 92 or 125.
So i changed $gridCellSize = 113; to $gridCellSize = 125; in zstore.ph p for the small size in my zstore.

Has there been any progress on this issue as of yet?

No visible progress. Mine still isn't working. Hopefully we're getting closer to a fix. I'm sure we are. In the meantime, I've adjusted my feed to show 100, which apparently means 100 rows, or 400 products since I think that's what I'm getting.

My stores have exactly the same symptoms, down to the last detail. My advertising is on hold just when I was hoping to be building it up for Christmas. I dropped back by this forum today in hopes there was a fix or at least some hope on the horizon, but I guess not.

Does anyone have a clue what started this? It all worked fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

My menu hierarchy in WP just went wonkers, too. I put pages in their proper categories and as soon as I save them they jump back out and refuse to fit into the navigation.

If any of you WordPress geniuses would like to trade some extra promotion for occasional troubleshooting please get in touch with me. I like building my own sites, but when suddenly something won't work I'm at a loss and don't understand enough to rewrite the code and fix it. Then I just get frustrated and grumpy. (I HATE when that happens! ;-)

I hope the Zazzle Gods will see fit to tell us what's going on soon. Pretty please?

Thanks for the continued posts. We are still working on a fix to our feed infrastructure and have no ETA on when that work will be complete. We will provide updates when these systems are back online.

Thanks, Avis Noelle, from all of the rest of us sitting out here on pins and needles hoping like crazy it'll be working again in time for us to have a successful holiday season.

Zazzle, we all know you're crazy busy, and that if it were any easy fix to track this problem down and straighten it out, it'd probably already be done. After spending weeks trying to fix the drop down navigation menus on one of my outside sites, I really get how hard it can be to find that problem code or identify what's wrong. I wish I was a better coder, and if I were I'd be offering to help.

I also know that for a lot of us out here this is really important. Really REALLY important. We've spent weeks or months of our time setting up these Zazzle feed dependent stores hoping to build businesses that benefit Zazzle, as well as ourselves, and we have to be able to count on the basic functions working. When they don't we all look bad and customers are unlikely to return.

Thanks for the many years of hard work you've spent getting us this far! Zazzle is an amazing company built around an ingenius concept. If I can do anything to assist you all in catching up during what we know is a busy time, I'd be happy to help. And I'm guessing that a lot of the rest of us sitting out here hoping for a solution would feel the same. While it's unlikely I could help with the more technical problems I could probably liaison between tech and the zstore owners who are waiting anxiously for news or at least a better explanation of the problem. And I'd be willing to bet there'll be people reading this who really are qualified to help and locate the problem code and would be happy to do so. We all just want to make this as successful and positive for everyone. Love

So please keep us posted and let us know what we can do. Grin

Hi,

We have been working on this issue, and everything we have tried so far has not worked.

The engineers are asking for some help.

Can someone email us at dev.support @zazzle.com and provide the code for your Zstore?

Thanks

Happy to do but what code do you specifically need?

Thanks

Just using the basic code like

include "include/zstore.php";

causes this issue, even without any config changes

Cheers

code in zstore:
// Get the total number of results from the opensearch: namespace in RSS
$totalNum = $rs['opensearch:totalResults'];
it returns nothing except:

a search for ALL PRODUCTS - EMANGLCHINESE (or other user names) gives back a number of results but not a keyword like christmas, easter, cat etc. ...

I'm using storebuilder in the wordpress plugin. Here is what I notice...

The pagination is showing up now and I see the product counts. The problem now lies in how many products show vs. what the count says. For example, this page:
http://www.girlscantwhat.com/gifts/artist-light/

Says it is showing 30 (my default setting) per page when it is actually showing 120. Page 2 and 3 shows the exact same 120 products. It is not until page 4 that you see a different set of products.

Also, on this page: http://www.girlscantwhat.com/guides/christmas-gifts-for-girls/
It should only be showing 9 ornaments (as set in the shortcode) but it shows 36.

Let's do some math....
30 x X = 120
9 x X = 36

Solve for X...
X = 4

Looks like the code is multiplying everything by a factor of 4. I don't know if that helps, but that multiplying by 4 is consistent across all of my sections.

Let me know if I can do any more testing. I would also be willing to give your team access to a development version of my site if needed. You can email me @ gretchen@girlscantwhat.com.

I just ran another test... Instead of showing 30 items per page, I started playing with that number on one of my affiliate sites. Here's what happened when I set the number of products to display:

1 = 4 products, pagination works but same 4 products are repeated on the first 3 pages. Only on page 4 and after do I get 1 product per page.

18 = 72 products, pagination works but same 72 products are repeated on the first 3 pages. Only on page 4 and after do I get 1 product per page

19 (and any number higher than that) = 76 (or the number x 4) products and I lose pagination at that point

So there's that mysterious number 4 again.

The only thing inconsistent for me at this point is the number at which I lose the pagination. On one site it is 19 and on another it's 22. On my main site I have it set to 30 and I'm afraid to touch it. Grin

One more observation... I tried varying the search options so that different numbers of products were showing. In my previous tests, I was running them against the same sections which had the identical number of products in them.

This time, I found I could break the pagination based on how many products were being returned. For example, one search returned 784 products. Pagination worked if I set it to 16 or less. Any higher and I got "showing page 1 of [blank]".

Then I tried a different search which returned 968 products. This time I could set it up to 18 products per page. Anything 19 and beyond would break the pagination again. I can't find a pattern in that, but it may explain why some people see it and some don't.

I concur with girlscantwhat's observations. Reducing the value of 'show how many' per page sometimes does preserve pagination.

The 'mysterious number 4' also manifests itself in the product page produced by zsb 1.5 in the zoom popup link. Instead of showing one zoomed image it shows 4 of the unzoomed size. Here's an example, as produced by product.p h p. Click on the 'see larger image' link to see the effect.

(Although I've made a few UI changes to the ZSB code I haven't touched the code that deals with processing/displaying the content of the rss feed)

The issue has nothing to do with ZSB code.

The issue lies in the feeds themselves, as a simple feed from the published RSS Feeds Manual produces the x4 issue.

Exactly correct, if the feed itself is fixed all other issues that relate to the usage of the feeds will be fixed.

Any updates on this? I've emailed the dev team and offered a test version of my site on a separate server but no one has taken me up on the offer.

Posted: Saturday, November 17, 2012 8:29:48 AM
I wanted to send whatever they needed to help fix this, but unfortunately the technical side of this baffles the heck out of me, and I hated to admit I had no clue what code they were asking for. If they can specify what they want and where to get it from I'll gladly send it. I'm even willing to let them log in as me and take a look around from the inside. But, it sounds like they're not responding to any of the offers anyway.

Should we really be giving up on the Holiday season already? That would make me feel very sad and also very foolish about how I've been spending my time the last 6 months or so. Should I be directing my energy on another path for now?
