You name it, it's good for it. All you need add is the eyeballs of your target market and you're good to go!

It's 7 /12 mins long, so could be good for your next coffee break!

This is AWESOME...thanks so much Mark you are doing an amazing job with Nifty.
I just created an animated gif and loaded it as a global slot message. You can view it on my site, here is a page http://www.customdesignedproducts.com/thats-graphic-design/leaves/

So glad you like it, Thats_Graphic! I like what you've done with your tribal diamands - nice gif Smile
Thanks for the feedback - always welcome Roses

I think you and everyone else are going to like what's coming next...

Up to 5 global slot messages can defined in your admin settings panel and the one shown gets chosen at random. Better, you can weight each one to improve its chances of being picked.

With a weight of 1, that message gets one chance to be chosen
With a weight of 2, that message stands two chances of being chosen
With a weight of 3, I'm sure you get the picture.

If you've got 3 messages in use and their weights are 9, 1 and 1 then the one with a weight of 9 stands 9 chances out of 11 of being chosen.
The ones with a weight of 1 will each only get a 1 out of 11 chance of being chosen.

Saying it differently, the messages you want to appear more frequently should have a bigger weighting number (1-9) than those you want to appear less frequently.

Saying it the simplest of all, you can rotate up to 5 slot messages.

Have a look at http://niftytoolz.com/popular-this-week-in-outer-space and page through the grid or keep refreshing the page.

I've got 4 messages set up, 3 are for halloween, each with a weighting of 1 and the other one is the announcement about the release of V3 of NiftyGridZPro.
That one I've weighted at 5 so it's got a 5/8 chance of being shown each time. The others (flappy bats, frankenwalker and happy halloween) each have a 1/8 chance of being shown.

Cool, hey?

I'm now testing out a feature to allow a slot message to be a Google advert.

Google Adsense has a "responsive" advert style and that's the one I'm testing.

Fingers crossed....

Techy bit

In Google Adsense, you create the type of ad you want and it gives you the code to paste in an appropriate place on your site.

Because Google ads are in part contextual, to begin with Google doesn't know what type of ad to serve up on that page. So it shows nothing to begin with.

Once the page has been visited, one of Google's ad spiders will eventually come looking, see what the page is about and report back to base.

Google now has enough info to be able to display an ad and so it does. Until then, in your Adsense account that ad has a status of "new". It moves to "active" at some point once the spider has done its stuff.

Right now, my ad is still showing as "new". I have visited, the spiders are just being a bit tardy.

Ok, it's working! You must be using a minimum cell size of 254px in order for ads to show up. The only type of ad I've got to work so far is what Google Adsense call "In-feed Ads" (note to self - don't forget to change the ads background color!)

I've set things so around half the time you see a google ad and the other half of the time it's either a message about the new release of NiftyGridZPro or a Halloween message.

Here's three posts that have large enough grid cells to be able to show Google Ads:
http://niftytoolz.com/steampunk-around-the-home
http://niftytoolz.com/all-options-niftygridz-grid
http://niftytoolz.com/new-design-for-lawyers-specializing-in-female-clients
http://niftytoolz.com/how-to-halloween-party-invitations-for-kids

Ok, 4 posts Stick out tongue

You might want to page through the grids on each of those posts to see the randomness kicking in.

Heck, that's another all-nighter I've pulled!

I'm happy to announce the release of V3.2!

It's the one with Google Ad support described in my last two posts. You can read about it here: http://niftytoolz.com/v3-2-released-new-google-ads-feature and get the full low-down on the FAQ here: http://niftytoolz.com/the-niftygridz-wordpress-plugin/niftygridz-faq#google-ads

Basically, you can now earn by displaying Googe Ads across your site, even on pre-existing product grids (made by NiftyGridZPro).

Here's its settings on your admin settings screen

Wow, thanks Mark. I'll take a look soon.

I'm preparing for the next release - V3.3

It includes:
- improved layout for small grid cell sizes,
- better nav layout for 1-product grids,
- bug fix for inbuilt search form.

See the effects on this blog post: http://niftytoolz.com/prettier-small-grids-v3-3-release-niftygridzpro

I've also written a blog post about using grids effectively in blog posts.
You don't automatically think of a grid of just one (at least, I don't!) but it can be a great way to embellish your articles by embedding them into paragraphs.

Happy to say I've now made the next release of the NiftyGridZPro.

V3.3 is a useability release with prettier grids for small cell-sizes, a speed enhancement (large product grids benefit the most) and a bug fix.

Read all about it here: http://niftytoolz.com/prettier-small-grids-v3-3-release-niftygridzpro

Behind the scenes, I've been preparing a new feature for the next release that could double your referral success rate.

You can read all about it and see it in action here: http://niftytoolz.com/upcoming-feature-use-local-zazzle-domains-links

...although if you're in the US, you won't see any difference!

In a nutshell... it's not well known that one of the situations where you lose out on a referral is if someone comes in on your .com link and ends up buying from an international domain.

The new feature, if switched on, will automatically and dynamically change all your product grid links to use the visitor's local (i.e. international) Zazzle domain.

There's some drawbacks - products that aren't available on international domains.
Does anyone know of a list anywhere of all those unavailable-on-international-domain products? If there was, I might be able to fix the drawbacks by incorporating it into NiftyGridZPro somehow.

Any help appreciated Roses

Thank you for letting me know about your product at my blog. I appreciate it very much. I will look into it closer as time goes by. I have your links in my Favorites area on my computer. I expect to be doing more work on my blog in the near future. I especially like it when someone makes a YouTube video of these tools. We have had a loss in our family and it will take awhile for me to get up to speed again. So thank you for coming by to tell me about it. At least this gives me ideas about how to move forward.

You're welcome, Lorrie Smile
Sorry to hear about your loss and I hope you are all able to cope with your grief, given time.

Thank you!

I've been working on the international domains thing and have come up with a solution.

If a product is NOT available on international domains then NiftyGridZPro will leave the product link alone.
Only those that ARE available will have their links swapped to use the visitor's local domain, for example, .co.uk

I'm glad that's sorted now Grin

You can see it in action right across the NiftyToolZ web site. Here for example: http://niftytoolz.com/popular-this-week-in-outer-space

If you're in the US, you won't see any difference - try a VPN outside the US to see it - if you have a real craving!

I've just released V3.5 on the free version. I always do that one first as part of the final, final test before the release to the premium versions.

V3.5 gives a speed-up to the local domains feature and adds a new feature, paragraph embedding.

Read more about the new feature and see it in action here: https://niftytoolz.com/paragraph-embedded-grids

I've now released the premium versions of NiftyGridZPro V3.5. I've sent them on to everyone, so if you didn't get yours, check your spam folder or ask me to send it again.

V3.5 brings a new paragraph_embed feature that lets you embed a product grid into the paragraph(s) that follow. You can have the paragraph(s) wrap around the grid when the grid is on the right or left. If the grid is too tall for the first paragraph, following ones will squeeze up as well.
V3.5 also speeds up the local Zazzle domains feature introduced in V3.4.

Just a quick note to say I love this plugin. Sorry out of touch - overtaken by events - but I'm now working on completely converting the over 300 posts on my AntiqueImages.com website to use this, while at the same time doing a lot of much needed clean up. Will post here when done.

As I work, here's my one big wish. I would love to be able list products from two or more stores in one combined feed. I do not know if it is technically feasible based on how Zazzle's feeds are structures. For example, if I could list all keyword monogram business cards from both my AntiqueImages and my VillageDesign stores in one single feed that would be amazing.

Sorry I overlooked this till just now...
Thanks for that great feedback Smile

There are a couple of work-arounds to your wish:
1) Create a collection to hold the mixture of products from the stores you want
2) Create a fallback file containing the mix you want and force the fallback grid to show (as described in the FAQ). You can create the fallback file quite easily using the Nifty Promo Control Panel.

Yes, there's the danger of deleted products in both cases unless the stores are yours. In which case you can make sure you don't delete any you're using.

I hope that helps, AntiqueImages!

Pleased to announce that my ANTIQUE IMAGES WEBSITE is now fully revised. All of the old "zstore" code has been banished, and the 200 plus pages are entirely Nifty-powered now. I'm very happy with the clean bold look

Thanks for the response earlier on the combined feeds. I took the Collections approach.

Quick question for you. Is the license valid for using the plugin on more than one website? You might have answered this before, but I don't remember. I am thinking of doing a separate site featuring work by a variety of designers, but probably only if it doesn't cost me anything more - referrals aren't what they used to be! Some plugin licenses are multisite, some are multisite as long as it's a single business (and not a separate site you developed for another people) and some are specific only to one url. What is your policy?
