Heads up!
I've been looking at the widgets available in Nifty for your blogs and websites, specifically with a focus on free WordPress blogs.

😭 Up until now, the widgets have been no good for them because they use stylesheets and that stops them from working. So, even though you could paste the html that Nifty gives you for them into an html block, it still wouldn't work.

βœ… Well, you'll be happy to hear that I'm changing that right now by giving you a check box in Nifty to say you're making the widget for a free WordPress blog. When it's checked, the widgets will use in-line styles to get round the problem.
βœ… So far I've got the static product grid widget working and the horizontal scroller one. Just got the vertical scroller to do. The linkify widget always worked so doesn't need changing.

Be aware that none of those widgets pull products live from Zazzle for your visitors. The products used are fixed at the point you make the widget. That means that if a product becomes hidden or gets removed, a visitor clicking the product in your widget will be disappointed. Sorry, nothing I can do about that as that's down to Zazzle.

I'll drop off some links to blog posts using them later today when it's all done and tested.

Ok, it's done and live.
The widgets section in Step 2 now has a checkbox for when you want them to work on free WordPress blogs.
Here's what it looks like

Here's a blog post on a free WordPress site that deomonstrates them in action:
https://razamazazzle.wordpress.com/2019/08/18/demo-of-nifty-widgets-on-this-a-free-wordpress-site/

The only widget I couldn't convert was the slider. It would need a complete re-write and even then, I'm not sure I could do it.

Enjoy

Improvements to Nifty continue.

I've now added page navigation buttons just above the product grid in the Nifty Promo Control panel. It makes it easier to review the results of your choices in Step 1

You won't see them if you're pulling from a collection.

The buttons actually increase and decrease the "Which page of results for your selection" under more options

Enjoy!

I tried the control panel and it brings up the products for tag review, but when I click on product, it takes me to the zazzle home page, and I have disabled the pop up blocker. what am I doing wrong? anyhelp is appreciated.
thank you for this great tool, in anticipation - Gill

Hey Gill, sorry to hear you're having issues. I see you've joined the NiftyToolZ Tips and Support group on Fb, so it's probably easier to give you hand-holding support there with screenshots and so on.

Right now, I can't think what might be happening. What you describe normally happens when you follow a link to a hidden product or one not available on the domain (like edibles on any non zazzle.com domain)

But those things can't happen with Nifty, so I'm at a loss. Because Nifty uses Zazzle's rss feed mechanism, hidden products never get pulled and everything comes from the .com domain.

I've tweaked the speed sharer so that it offers you hashtags created from the first 5 tags from the product being speed-shared.
It also tries to extract the product name and make a hashtag out of that. It fails when the product title has had the product name added by the designer instead of letting Zazzle add it automatically.
It also fails for the "Create your own" products that Zazzle provides.
I'm still not very happy about the text that I auto-generate at the start of that copy area and will be looking at improving that next.

Posted: Saturday, August 24, 2019 3:59:25 AM
As promised in my previous post, I've improved the auto-generated text.
More than that, I've tweaked the text that gets used as the description when speed-sharing to Pinterest and Twitter.

Pinterest and Twitter now use the product's title as is, with hashtags added after it. The hashtags consist of the product's name / type (when it can be extracted) followed by the first five product tags as hashtags.

Facebook doesn't allow the description to be auto-added so the suggested text for you to copy before hitting the Fb button.

This speeds up the speed-sharer even more becasue your time is valuable!

Enjoy
Smile

Do remember, you can get friends / followers / family to amplify your reach by giving them the speed sharer to use on their twitter or facebook. It amplifies your reach because they can use it to share / pin your stuff with their friends / followers / family. You do this by copying the contents of the address bar and sharing that.

We got to the bottom of it - it was caused by an invalid referral id being used.
All sorted for Gill now Smile

Are the links for collections created in Niftty broken too?

I think Zazzle fixed the issue. Anyway, yes, it works in Nifty just fine. See this Fb post: https://www.facebook.com/mark.ridley/posts/10220615632047186

I'll be sending out the August Nifty Newsletter soon - make sure you get it by signing up now. It's the last thing in the Step 1 panel in Nifty:

There's a new major release of the nIFTTTy Scheduler coming soon. It improves a couple of aspects that gives you much better transparency and control.
It won't affect your existing schedules, only new ones you make.
There's two aspects to it, one for collections and one for non-collections.

😊 For collections, it's much easier and clearer to set how many you want to schedule from the collection. You can give a specific number or set it to schedule the max available in the collection.

😊 For everything else other than collections you get something similar with knobs on.
Again, you can give it a specific number or set it to the max available (absolute max, set by Zazzle, is 1076, even though there may be more than that available.)

πŸŽ‰ The special extras for non-collection pulls are:
βœ… It won't schedule the products in the sequence of the the pull, instead it will jump about at random, choosing products from somewhere in the list of those pulled.
βœ… Everyone gets a different random jump-about, determined by their referral id. This is brilliant because it means that everyone's pins/shares will be different even though their pulls may be the same.
βœ… This variability is great for Pinterest boards! Doing a board for Halloween? Pulling the most popular from the market place? Your board will now be different from anyone else doing the same!
βœ… If you're pulling by newest first from a store, this random jump-about means you're much more likely to get different designs rather than the same old design scheduled one after the other

Happy to answer any questions Smile

πŸ€“

❗️ Note that if products in your selection criteria get added or removed or change in popularity, it may change what nIFTTTy finds when it requests the next item to pin / share. It's always been like that so it's something we have to accept.

❓ What does this mean? If you're pulling by date created and new ones are made, everything will get shifted down to make room. That might mean that nIFTTTy will pick up a product it's already pinned / shared. Don't worry, if that happens, IFTTT will simply ignore it - but it does mean that you'll get nothing for that timeslot.
If you're pulling from a collection, it's slightly different. Adding, removing or reorganising will temporarily make the collection unavailable until Zazzle reindexes it. That means you'll get nothing at all pinned / shared for the duration. Time doesn't stop, so it also means that there could be products from your collection that never get pinned / shared.

Thanks Mark.

Does this mean if we are pinning from someone's store only 1076 pins will be sent to the chosen social media platform and then stop?

If we leave that Max field blank will it just pin to Z's max of 1076?

Great questions, LM Smile
Whether pinning / sharing from a store or the market place, 1076 is the max. After that, your schedule will having nothing left to pin/share. Great time to delete it and make another.
It's been like this for ages and ages - Zazzle's rss feed mechanism (on which Nifty is based) doesn't allow us to reach further than this.

Yes, leaving the field with "max possible" in it will make the scheduler pin/share to the max.

I hope that helps Smile

I'm testing it right now to make as sure as possible that everything goes smoothly when I release it.

I've now written a blog post describing the new nIFTTTy Scheduler V6 with screenshots - the new scheduler isn't live yet but will be soon. The post is here: https://niftytoolz.com/enhanced-nifttty-scheduler-now-at-v6

I was able to squeeze in another small enhancement to the nIFTTTy Scheduler - a new button to add 5mins to the timeslot settings. Gives you the chance to add some variation when you use the other buttons to set up the timeslots. See the blog post above (updated) for more.

Me too - just couldn't figure out how to do it before!

Just found out that Pinterest is having a hissy-fit right now. The speed-sharer is getting a weird error message when you try to pin.
Posted: Saturday, September 07, 2019 11:33:57 AM
It was a temporary glitch - all seems fine now.

Hi, Mark!

What happened to the "Share" buttons on the lefthand side of the slideshow page??? Went to post one and can't. (Aside: Posting from the Pinterest app is no workaround. It only yields a regular pin with the "cover" item.) Please advise!

Win 10 / Chrome

I don't have Windows but they're present on Mac Chrome, Firefox, Safari & Vivaldi
I was getting a weird error when trying to pin from the speed-sharer over the weekend but it fixed itself. Maybe it's a similar glitch at either the Pinterest or AddThis end as it was over the weekend?

I noticed in the Pinterest sharing window when the glitch was happening that it had https://pinterest.com (or .co.uk) instead of https://www.pinterest etc

Is that what you're seeing?
Posted: Monday, September 09, 2019 8:15:07 AM
Nope. Here's a screenshot @25% so you can see a vast empty white space on the left:

I was able to post from FireFox what I needed/wanted to do but I thought you'd want to know there's a problem for Win/Chrome users of Nifty.

Thanks for clarifying Smile

I don't have Windows so haven't got a clue as to what's happening. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing it in Windows / Chrome?

Idea Yaay! Great news. After extensive testing, I've now gone live with V6 of the nIFTTTy scheduler. None of your existing schedules will be affected - only new ones you make.
For a full run-down on what's new, have a look at this blog post:
https://niftytoolz.com/enhanced-nifttty-scheduler-now-at-v6
In short, the scheduler will jump about the products in your "pull" rather than pinning / sharing them one after the other (except for collections, which progress normally). Why do this? Read the blog post ;)
It also makes it easier to define how many you want scheduled - a number or "max possible".
Other enhancements include an "add 5 minutes" and a "subtract 5 minutes" button. It's now really easy to adjust the timeslots so they're different for each nIFTTTy schedule you make.
Enjoy Grin

Hey Mark,
I was just using the IFTTT iPhone app to organize my applets because of how much easier it is to use and also I use my iPhone a lot when I am having bouts of insomnia or I just don't want to go to my computer...

That got me thinking to ask you if you have ever considered making a mobile app for the Nifty control panel?

I would use it if you did, and I would hope others would too...

anyone?
