I printed out some "catalog pages" for a craft show tomorrow. Will let you know how it is received.

Is there somewhere to change background colors before printing?
I did the polyester bags which are white. Printed on white paper, it is difficult to see the bag (very faint grayish tone around product). It seems to me that you had this ability in some section of NIFTY

Thanks for pointing out the background area Mark!!

I couldn't display the catalog sheets properly at yesterday's event. (Too small a space to put up product and pages). I did have it set up behind my table, but there were no patrons who spied it and asked for more info.

The next show, I will have the better background and hopefully better display area.

What, you weren't leaping out and stuffing the catalogs under their noses? Shame on you Laughing

Not enough room to "leap out"

If I do the show again, I'm thinking of getting an outside canopy space (same entry fee I think).

Well, if there is a next time, I hope it goes well for you. Maybe have some bags marked "freebies, and include some low-value stuff (1/4 sheet of a couple of different Christmas labels, a small temporary tattoo cut from a sheet of many, other stuff... ) and a copy of your catalog?

Just a thought Smile

Mark,
I don't know what happens to my comment on this topic that we had in the Everything Else forum, but I did save the link in my favorites. I tried to save it in a PDF but it only took it in webpage form. No worries because I did save each page of collections in my favorites too and you know what....this program of yours doesn't use a whole lot of ink. This is soooo cool and thank you soooo much for doing this program. I can now print out a few copies of this. It took me so long to do this as I was procrastinating. Would this also work for the New Product page for the latest ones that I have made to show at craft shows? Another question: Can theses pages be able to be put in a page protector, or would that prevent the device in picking up the full signal at the top of the page?

I didn't see your comment in the Everything Else forum - the ones I saw were in the Create Products forum:
https://forum.zazzle.com/create/how_to_print_out_for_catalogs

Anyway, on with yorur points... I don't know about how saving to PDFs works on PCs but I thought it was roughly the same as on Macs. On a Mac, you choose to print the page and in the dialog that opens up, that's where instead of actually printing, you get a choice to save the printfile as a PDF. What happens is that instead of sending it to your printer, the system intercepts it and directs it to a PDF file instead.
Something like that.

Final point, putting the pages into page protectors, I guess we can only try it and see. It's ok on my iPhone through clear plastic walltes/protectors. Maybe other people can give it a try on theirs and report back?

That would be nice Smile

And thank you for saying such nice things Grin Roses Roses

hmmm some MOD moved it then because I did start it in the Everything Else here. Thanks for your help. I do have a small problem though. The pictures are fine and such a great job, but the title's come out big and most of the prices do not show up. Some of them are cut in half vertical. I went and changed my fonts and sizes on my computer, but that only made anything almost unreadable and changed nothing on my print or pages. If there is a way to do this from you program that would be great. If not They will just see the price when they order or look into my catalog via their phone. I am in a cruch as I in in a craft show this weekend.

I don't know what to suggest. WhenI print to PDF and then preview it, the fonts are an acceptable size. This is how it looks for me in Chrome on a Mac:

What browser are you using? I ask because it seems the exact font used is down to the combination of computer and operating system?

Got a problem....every time I select print it asks me to save the file. It is saved. It even tells me that it saved and shows up in my documants. I can open it and then when I click on Print and it is destined as a PDF, I am brought to the pages to save it again. I seem to be in a loop and can't get out of it.

I got it. Somehow I cannot open the file but have to right click on it and then it askes to make pdf my default and so I did that and then it printed. Oy Vey! I was going to give up for today, but glad I stuck with it.

I'm glad to hear you finally got it sorted! Well done for struggling through!

In other news.... it's always good to hear how my tools are helping people. I just got this about Pinterest on the Nifty Toolz Tips and Support Fb group:
Quote:
When you last asked me (4th Nov) it was at 1.4k. It is now up to 5.1K monthly viewers. Yay!

So that's near a 5 times increase!
Congrats to them Smile

✅ You might notice an improvement in using the Nifty Promo Control Panel, especially if using filters.

My code was using a service called YQL (which was doing the pulling from Zazzle). YQL has a 5 second timeout and that was often kicking in when using filters.

I've now rewritten that part of the code, so YQL isn't being used anymore. It only took 4 days 🤪 to find out how and get it right!
Note: If you're using 'live' widgets such as the slideshow, they still use YQL.

Here's a link to the control panel with settings for doing a search for new years and to filter out products with christmas, chinese or wedding in titles, descriptions or tags. (Filter settings are in the advanced section availaible when you click the more button.)
http://www.kdl.to/nifty-slideshows.html?qs=new+years&storeid=&dp=252771842883420464&cg=&ps=50&pg=1&pm=&tc=nnslsh&tcschd=nnschdlr&trm1=christmas&trm2=chinese&trm3=wedding&fttls=1&fdscs=1&ftags=1

🤓
The reason the timeout was sometimes kicking in when using filters is that the code:
does a pull
removes products matching any of the filters
repeats the above until the requested page size (of products) is obtained.
all to be done within 5 seconds or a timeout will happen and the pull will fail.

Of course, more 'pulls' are required if there are lots of products matching any of the filters - and if there's too many pulls, eventually the timeout kicks in.

With my recent update to remove depency on YQL (look ^^ a couple of posts ago) I broke some of the Nifty tools without realising. 🤬

All fixed now 😎

Umm... Are you sure Nifty is operating as it should? For the last two days, I have been unable to create a slideshow from either recent or older collections. I also tried to do grids to no avail. Nifty is pulling the collections in Step 1, but I get nothing but the 'spinner' in Step 2.

I've just been through checking them all and they're fine. Maybe it was just a caching thing?

Cleared my caches, added the kdl.to site to my whitelist in BitDefender (your site is listing as not secure in my browsers), and tried the following test: used your fifteen products that show up as the default and was able to make a slideshow lickety-split. So the problem is on my end, but for the life of me, I don't know what it is. Any further suggestions?

Hmmm...

Can you get something that's not working. Right click the My Control Panel Settings link and copy and paste what you get here.

I'll then have a look and see if it helps work out what's going on for you.

[as an aside, no personal data is ever used so the fact it's not https is ok]

I think I've been able to duplicate your issue, Saints_Aplenty... looking into it now

Fingers crossed! because things have just gotten weirder and weirder. Loaded my St. Barbara with Artillery Collection and got a slideshow and product grid but with your(?) cat stamp et al. showing up. See:

St. Barb!?!

P.S. Was off testing things on another machine, in other browsers, running diagnostics, etc.

Fixed a bug where the live catalog printer was displaying some garbage text instead of the price.
Posted: Saturday, December 15, 2018 9:28:52 AM
I've improved the live-print catalog - the qrcode and shortened link now only appear when you print.

This means if someone types the short link into a browser or points their mobile at the qrcode on your printed copy, they won't see them.

I'm making good progress with the ebook printer. It's a little beyond beta test, now I have to set things up for it on the Nifty Promo Control Panel but that needs some working out.

Meantime, here's a Disney Poster Catalog ebook I made:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07LCVPKXG
(not exclusively my copyright, so removed)

If you choose to "look inside" it shows the posters as a scrolling list but in an ebook reader it'll be one poster per page.

Keep an eye out for announcements about it in the next few days or so. Hopefully before the forum closes for its seasonal shutdown! Peeps in the NiftyToolz facebook group will hear about it regardless.

Why not ask to join? It's here:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/581280082075739

Hope to see you there!

I fixed a bug that recently crept in.

Discontinued items arriving from a "pull" from Zazzle have no price and in the conversion to removing reliance on the YQL service to do the pulling, I'd overlooked it.

Sorry if that affected you Roses

Be aware, I’ve checked with the Amazon Kindle review team and got clarity from them on this key point: they only accept eBooks where you are the exclusive copyright owner of the content.

It means you’re fine with collections of your own designs but not with those of others.
