Customization with Multiple Lines
Posted: Friday, February 14, 2020 10:46:10 AM
I've noticed that when a text customization has multiple lines, and the user deletes the lines, then the custom text box switches to one line only by itself, and the user is unable to make multiple lines again unless they go into the designer tool. While this is an easy enough workaround, I'm not sure how many customers will realize this and not just give up on a product and move on to another product. I've attached a video of what I'm referring to with the link below.

You can see that I have two lines, and then I'm easily able to add more lines. Once I removed everything from the text box, the text box pauses for a moment, and then I am no longer able to add "returns/enters" into the text box.

I did a little more testing, but perhaps this is only happening before an item is posted for sale. Once it's in the marketplace this issue might not happen for the customer. If anyone else has a chance to test, please let me know if you are finding the same thing happening.

Know the issue. I think to remember, though, it happened also on published products back then. I can be wrong, so I don't know if something has been fixed in the meantime.

I've just checked one of my published template products and you're right. On a published product, if you delete the whole content of a multiline field or edit a single line, exit the form and enter it again, the multiline text field property is kept. If that has been changed, thank you Z.

BUT... and now, Scott, don't punch me please... if you stop editing and open that published template later on from your saved designs, the edited/emptied multiline text field has turned into a single line, as it does on unpublished designs.

There are some behaviors that change depending on if the product is published or not (or published but taken from the saved designs). It's not limited to text fields. On horizontal puzzles as example, the 20x20 square size causes a permanent design orientation change (within the designer). This on unpublished and published but saved designs. Knowing you don't like mixed reports, I don't go into details here. Just fyi.

Thanks for taking a look! That's a good point about the saved designs as well. I've noticed that too.
