Collections not showing up

I read the thread that has been closed (because there are no bugs???). This morning I was missing 2 collections in my public storefront -- not just 0 products the collections do NOT show up at all. After clearing cache, restarting etc -- I decided to give Zazzle some time thinking it was a technical issue or glitch that would fix itself.

This has never been an issue in the past when I added a new collection or new products.

Six hours later, I am now missing 3 collections!

I'm using Chrome, Windows 10.

Hope this gets fixed soon!

I haven't read that other discussion thread lately, but I am sure that someone (or multiple someones) mentioned that the collection will not be publicly visible for a short duration of time after you add products to it. This appears to be the case with your "missing" collections. I'd suggest giving it about 24 hours for newly created products to be indexed, and for your updates to be indexed.

I have a couple I am waiting on myself to be re-indexed after making changes as well as adding in products. I know they will re-appear in due time, so this post isn't a complaint. Just supporting the statement.

Scott -- I worked on trying to figure this out for three days before I got to this forum with my problem. I think there is still something quirky about how it works. All my collections were showing this moring. However, after I posted new products to 3 of the collections, I have 3 collections missing and they are not the same ones I posted to --

So waiting 24 hours for things to "show up" doesn't exactly resolve the problem.

It's confusing and frustrating. Not only are these missing but they are out of order when they do show up. Currently, I only have 26 Collections -- so I can tell when something isn't showing up or the order has changed.

I'm sure we will all be very grateful if you can figure out what's happening and fix it.

Today is June 12. So these collections were modified today. I am not sure what was updated about them, but they were updated and so they'll require a reindexing before they're publicly visible again.

I am sorry that this wasn't made more clear. I agree that things aren't perfect right now. Hopefully in the future we can improve on the way things are working. Until that happens just know that if you modify a collection (change the product ordering, change the banner image, etc) then keep in mind that they will not be publicly visible for a short period of time.

They do seem to re-indexing faster now, for me anyway.

Thank you for the response. I'm just trying to understand how this works -- and just doesn't seem to be consistent.

Okay -- it's been 24 hours since I worked on my Zazzle store. Still 3 collections missing.

I get that things get re-indexed because of changes and that it takes time -- maybe more than the 24 hours suggested.

But I still have questions --

What other kinds of changes require reindexing? I see that you said that I changed something in Red Red Roses and Cosmos Charm bath -- and I have no idea what it may have been except for rearranging the order of collections or products. Of course, I guess that might fall under needing to be re-indexed. What about adding/deleting tags? Correcting typo's in descriptions?

What I really don't understand is why Lovely Gardenia and Black |White are showing up when they are the two collections that I specifically made numerous changes to on June 12. They apparentently have not been re-indexed because the new products I added have not been added to the collections. So when will they be reindexed?

As I said I'm confused and frustrated. So no work today on Zazzle. I don't want to confuse the issue further. Will check back in tomorrow to see if things are reindexed.

Yep and yep and yep.

Making any changes at all to your collections will probably require a reindex.

Yay! My collections are back! Was this an unusually long time for re-indexing? What is the schedule for re-indexing? If this is the norm, how do you pro's deal with it? I'm not sure I want to post anything today if it's going to take until next week to be re-indexed. It seems to me that the only way to be seen is to be sure everything is available on weekends. Any suggestions to managing this better is appreciated.

It's been the norm for a while now. Seems this started sometime last fall or late summer. Can't remember for sure now. Hi,

I am also having issues with one of my collections. I just read through this entire thread, so I think I may know what this issue is, but I'll ask anyway.

My Hannah collection only shows up when I am logged into my account. When I log out, it disappears entirely from my Collections page and is visible on my Home page, but it shows 0 products. See these images for reference:

This is my largest collection by far (63 items whereas I am still in the beginning stages on my others, which only have 3-14 items each). I have been working on my Hannah collection daily, adding new things to it and re-organizing it to put the products in the proper place within the collection. Is all this activity and reorganizing keeping the collection from re-indexing?

I have not been able to see this collection for more than a week when I am logged out. Do I need to finish adding products to it to see it reappear finally? It's a bit upsetting considering I am working so hard on it. Any information that you can provide me will be much appreciated.

I am curious,

I know that creating new categories or subcategories will cause a re-indexing issue for the category. I get that.

But, does say... changing a tag on an item in a category have the same effect on the whole category as it does with collections?

I know I could test it myself but thought someone might know.

@ Dawn, If you edit anything in the collection at all, like, changing a tag or correcting a typo on a single item in the collection will cause the entire collection to be indexed. This happens no matter where you make the correction from. So you could be looking at past products on you back end products page and see a typo, and fix it from there through the edit function, but because that item is an item in one of your collections, that whole collection gets re-indexed.

I can't say that is what happened to you, but maybe. And the speed of re-indexing varies quite a bit... as others have noted.

Any updates you make to a collection will need time to index. I can see that the collections you mentioned are showing publicly now Smile

This collection was updated yesterday so it will require an index. It will be visible soon, provided you do not make further adjustments to the collection in the meantime Smile

Skip - Once the collection is indexed it should be visible on the product page.

If this is not the case then please link us to the product and the collection and we'll take a look.

Indexing appears to be the common denominator for the collections.
Its a shame adding items messes things up like it does.

Yes, you will need to finish adding products to the collection before it will finally re-index, which can take 24 hours or more.

This is 100-percent my issue. I have not changed the collections since I created them. Not one single thing so they should be indexed. But they only show up when I am logged in. Zazzle--FIX THIS ISSUE. Crying
