Really sorry I got us on this confusing topic. Sad

In my first post, I meant that a tie could not be made from one pattern piece - not one piece of fabric. Colorwash thought I meant one piece of fabric, not necessarily one pattern piece.

"Piece" in this conversation is meaning more than one thing.

It takes more than one pattern piece, but a tie can be cut (in its several parts) from one piece of fabric.

Looks like I was misreading the issue. It's not that there are three pieces, it is the scale at which the design is being uploaded.

Sorry about that. Sad

I have not made ties, but have done a lot of sewing in my day. My mom had me matching pattnerend fabric when I was in grade school. It was always fun to see things match up well. Smile

I would love to see a BLACK SHIRT for design display as well. Lots of people like wearing dark shirts with ties.

Thanks colorwash - that's interesting.

I just checked out some my husband's ties and the ones I looked at all were cut in three pieces.

Obviously, there is more than one way to make a tie!
