Pinterest woes... 4 pages: 1 [2] 3 4

I may have mentioned it before but not long ago I opened a ticket about porn bots with them. They emailed me back that I should block and report them. I said what I just told you and they repeated their reply. I told them it isn’t my job to clean up their site for them and they need to do something about it. At least add content filters! They never replied back.

So what I noticed was this... I get a bot follower. A few hours later another one... a few hours another... and so on. It was usually about 5 a day if I didn't block any of them.

Once I started figuring out they were bots and blocking them right away I would usually get another a few hours later. But if I blocked that one to, they stopped... at least for the day. As I got better at blocking them they showed up less often. I get one or two a week now. And they are getting more clever... ah the internet.

I find the porn bots disturbing. But am seeing far less of them, especially the more explicit ones. I think I've only seen one of them in the last month.

I don't report, I just block, and block and block...

And I think it is because I do that I see less and less. Most of them have a "group board" that is just other bots. I think they read each others follow lists and thats how "new" ones know how to follow my board. But why... I have no idea...

Looking at my list of followers, is there anything that would identify them as spam bots without checking each profile? I don't have time for that!

Celebrity names...

Seemingly high quality photo that is a little off... When I say off, I mean off center, part of face cut off, no face just body, ...

It seems your account was culled not that long ago, I would just focus on new followers. Open every account, you will get a feel real quick for what/who is real and who isn't.

Accounts that have more followers than they follow... accounts with the same boards on each account and tons of followers. Remember, the bots follow each other...

Those are the thoughts that come to the top of my mind...

I got 849 new followers last month—that would take a good chunk of my time investigating each one! Shocked And see? That’s the thing that ticks me off. I probably got suspended because I got too many bots and Pinterest thought I was adding fake followers. And I’m just here following the rules like I’m supposed to. Why is it my duty to keep the bots off my account? Grrrr.

I here ya.

For awhile I was getting 10 - 15 a day. But now I'm down to 3-8 a day. But they are real (pretty sure).

I just made it a habit to check twice a day. They give you a notification. So I check in the morning and in the evening. What I think you'll find is that at first it will feel a little overwhelming. But as you block more and more you'll get less and less to look at.

There was a time where I was just able to look at the picture and say, wow, 6 stunningly beautiful men or women followed me today... really?? and just block them off the photos. While a lot of people try and look their best, most don't have model quality images. Now I'm getting ones that are a little more tricky but usually still have the model quality photo.

While my followers are far less than yours, I feel it is nice to know they are real. And while I wish Pinterest did a better job, imagine if they weren't trying at all...

Just my thoughts...

I do what Josh does every month probably, but I only get maybe 5 new followers a month and usually 3 or 4 of those are bots or porn. I flag them and block them. Sometimes it’s harder to tell, but usually it is obvious.

Thanks Josh and Melrose! I guess Pinterest cleaned up my spam bots by taking away 1600 followers. Just wish they hadn't suspended my account in order to do it. Crying Which brings me to wonder--if they have the ability to find them and delete them, why don't THEY just do it as soon as they appear? I have to waste my time or risk deletion?

I'm pretty sure they do a lot to try and stop them. And P is huge, I mean HUGE. Technology can only do so much... so far...

I'm to a point now where I would be surprised if I spend ... maybe 5 minutes... maybe 7 mins a day blocking... some days no time at all. Yes, I have days with no new followers...

I think its worth it. I want quality over quantity.

Pinterest should be doing this, not us!

Amen to that and that is what I told them in a scathing email after they suggested that they are relying on us to do it for them...

oooo, that made me so mad!

Gosh I never thought to look but I will now.

One other thing that bugs the living daylights out of me is the pins and click outs counts are never recorded. I see my Z pins are being saved but the counts on the pins and inside the pins don't record them.

grrrrr

Just went on Pinterest today, to get ideas. Every pin they recommended to me showed up for a split second then I got a picture saying it didn't exist try these categories. I was able to see a pin after doing that but my feed wasn't working so I gave up. Plus I'm having problems with these forums loading only for me. Mostly they don't load until they randomly do. I even tried Edge a browser I hate and it gave me a waiting for response thing for 25 minutes. It's a miracle I got somehow got them to work again. Anyway long story short the internet is getting on my last nerve right now. I try to be somewhat productive and nope...

Guess I will go look at my ideas notebook and make a meh design I haven't gotten around to yet.

are any of you having trouble with pinterest right now? It seems when I try to post from pinterest by uploading images, the descriptions do not stick at all. They are still searchable by hashtags but they don't show up.

Also, I havn't been able to do a shop the look type post for days. Once I add the linked product image the page goes white and I have to start all over. Just wondering if its a pinterest thing, or only me effected?

Thanks for any input!

I haven't pinned from Z today but I did from another site building them from scratch and those pins are fine.

It might be Zazzle...

Well my monthly views finally stopped free falling, and I came out in the end losing less than 100 thousand. Maybe they can recover for the holiday season now!

I still don't know what happened.

Try clicking the grid layout and see if you can then organize the pins.

No, I can't move anything today, and that doesn't help. I'm on Firefox.

I just now paused to see if I could organize, and I did so without a hitch. I'm on Firefox too.

I can now organize but I still can't move a pin from one board to another without repinning it.

Since they took away access to board stats a little while ago, I've been dyeing to see stats on my individual boards, as opposed to just pin stats.

Anyone using a program to get better stats than what P is giving us? If so, what do you use?

Thanks.

Josh

PS. I hear tailwind might give these to you??

I can't delete multiple things from a board at the same time. Once I click on a bunch of pins, the "delete" option is no longer there. I have to delete one at a time. Of course this happened when someone decided to spam my group boards with 100+ pins...

Here's the thing. They are not on my list of pinners. I don't know how this can be, as they requested an invite and I approved it. And now I have another one who spammed my board. Normally, if you remove them, it asks if you want to remove all their pins too. But again, their name is not on my board list. So frustrating.
