Pinterest woes... 3 pages: [1] 2 3
Posted: Thursday, August 29, 2019 1:27:47 PM
Is anyone else noticing that the monthly viewer count on the Pinterest profile page is gone? Mine isn't there today. Idea

I am not sure how I feel about that...

o.o mine is gone too.. I don't like that at all, but I bet it's to do with their privacy policy changes they just implemented. I refreshed my pages and they made me agree to the new policy... which means, it might not come back Sad

I didn't have to do a privacy policy agreement yet...
But they have been busy changing a things lately so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

It's interesting that both Z and P have removed public count/counter stats from public view...
Posted: Thursday, August 29, 2019 3:53:26 PM
Oh ugh! I liked to see other people's counts as a guideline as to who to follow. And I wanted mine displayed for the same reason! I've been working on getting mine higher and now I've almost lost interest.

You can still see follower counts, but that doesn't mean much. You can buy fake followers.

Alas, so I wasn't imagining things...

I just discovered we can still see how many pinterest monthly viewers we get by clicking your account name at the top and selecting business hub - from there click analytics on the top left and select audience insights... its displayed here now, but apparently not available to the public anymore. Maybe this was always there, and everyone already knows it.. but I just realized it so I'm happy Grin

Yes the info we need is still there for ourselves.

I'm wondering if it isn't also to do with what Facebook is trying in Europe with Instagram. They removed the "likes" option to remove the popularity contest atmosphere on the platform. I wonder if Pinterest is thinking along this same line?

I Googled to see if I could find anything. Nothing yet.

Mine almost dropped to half of what it was but it is back for now.

I lost about 16 thousand.

Glad I’m not alone, but what’s that about anyway? Everything was the same with my account, just the numbers weren’t showing.

no idea, I never have been able to figure out Pinterest...

I almost just gave up on it until I got the nIFTTTy scheduler, but I still don't really know what I am doing. Idea

Well I lost over half a million monthly viewers (in what? Two days?) and it annoys me to no end. Makes me wonder how accurate their numbers are in the first place.
Posted: Sunday, September 01, 2019 2:57:33 PM
yeah, just 3 short weeks ago I had 420 thousand, now I have 360 thousand but right before it went blank my count was at 376 thousand... how do you lose 16 thousand people in 2 days?

I don't know but my engaged count has stayed about the same and they say that is the one the matters...

I get annoyed with all the sites that are constantly changing and shifting like the desert sands. How are we ever supposed to improve when we can't keep up with the changing all the time? It is a true time suck that really sucks! Stick out tongue

I'm lucky if my stats on P update once a week, lately. Sometimes I get 2 days in a row but the numbers are all over the place...lol

I would put Followers at the top of the want list, then engaged.

I think of the viewed stat as a feel good stat. It only really means someone "saw" your pin. They may have scrolled right past it, but they saw it... Yes, I do want both those numbers going up, but engaged increasing quicker than viewed.

And P has been a little glitchy over the last month. There was a day my stats showed 0 activity across everything...

Anyway, I share your frustration especially about accuracy. But we have no choice do we??

Last month my account was erroneously suspended (yes, I about had a heart attack lol) and when they restored it I had 1600 fewer followers. Shocked Where did they go? Ahh, the mysteries of life. Laughing

A few months back I went through "all" my followers and found about a third were either porn or spam bot accounts. It hurt to block so many "followers."

I wonder if you too may have had a bunch of those type of followers and your page got caught up in one of there sweeps, accidentally.

I tend to have to block 1 - 5 new followers a week... annoying, and well... i digress...

Just wanted to share that thought with you.

Thanks! I was whining Laughing about this topic in another thread and someone suggested that might be the case. I had forgotten about that. I never look when I get new followers, but maybe I should start.

What does a porn account or spam bot get out of following me?

If you find out please share the answer...I would like to block them but I have to view the profile and I would rather not!

Adding: I found out the hard way that if you start blocking and reporting them and you have viewed them to see that they are porn bots then P thinks that was what you were interested in viewing and shows you more of it in your feed. I just ignore them now and hope people don't notice or think I like them. Stick out tongue

Oh geeze! I'm sure that's true, because I'll look up something for whatever reason and then my feed is filled with primarily that topic.

And on a little related side rant, yesterday I made the mistake of looking up eyeglass frames on my computer, and now I can't escape the ads from all different companies. On my phone, every Instagram ad is eyeglasses. They're popping up in my sidebars. I get emails about them. It's driving me insane!

I now check everyone that follows me. I block every bot I can find. I am a little overboard on clearing cookies from my browser so I don't get shown more of the same in my feed. And I don't let P follow my web activity. Nor do I use any social on my phone... too annoying.
