How do affiliates find things to affiliate?
Posted: Monday, January 20, 2020 12:29:52 PM
I'm trying to get back into affiliating, and I'm just getting frustrated because I can't find things. How do affiliates do it? Everything I type in the search engine gives me things with zero relevance to the search. "1st birthday shirt" = adult shirts and invitations. "1st birthday paper plates" = baby shower. "1st birthday paper napkins" = more baby shower. "1st birthday gift bag" = golf towel and luggage tag?

Is there a trick to searching here that will give me results that include the words I type in? Something everybody knows but me?

you can write a post in the "Affiliate Design Requests" category here in the forum, specifying your design request

try

first birthday baby shirts

and I wish I had some secrets to share. One thing I will share is that it is good to pause after you type a word or two and let Zazzles, IDK what its called, an image window, show you what the search engine is pulling up.

In this case, if I type "1st" and look both at the images and the suggested searches you see all cards and invitations.

But typing in "first" and look, and then add "birthday" and look. You will like what you see better.

I know that you can also type "-word" the minus sign removes the next word typed, with no space between, from the search.

It becomes habit to find an item you like, then visit the store. Many times this leads to more items you might want to promote.

Searching Collections is a good way to go as well.

When you click inside the search box on the home page and wait a second, a drop down box will appear with search options, one of them is to search collections.

I could probably go on, but those should get you started and your brain should carry on from there.

You really have to step into a customers shoes. Don't search like you would think, but how your sister, mom, etc would. Does that make sense?

Best wishes and good luck!

My way of doing things may not work for you, but I am responding to the thread title: How do affiliates find things to affiliate?

I just peruse the MP (never the forums or outside websites). Though I do sometimes use keywords, I am never looking for any particular product, so I tend to have no issues. If I click on a product to promote, I will then look over the page for other things I may like and go on an adventure from there.

Thanks for the hints, everyone. I think it's just going to be more frustrating and time-consuming than I anticipated. "first birthday baby shirts" still brings up invitations for some reason. I do try to put myself in a shopper's shoes. That's part of why I was confused. I type searches as if I know nothing about Z, and get... what I get.

Still, the minus trick will help get rid of products I don't want. If I can figure out how to get it to get rid of designers who are tag spammers that would be even better.

Thanks again!

When you type in "First Birthday" a page of items will come up.

You should then go to "Refine By Category". Select Baby T-Shirts.

Hi, when you find a designer that suits your search, look into their collections and / or their categories, so you find things organized by theme or use?

Personnaly I have affiliates in mind when creating collections, trying to make it easy for them to find what they look for.
