I recently sold an item that was bought through a pinterest link (with my affiliate number) but when I looked on the referal column it says "none" - is Zazzle not crediting links coming from Pinterest or is Pinterest doing something to delete the code?

It could be that Pinterest stripped your referral. I know that they do this and you can go back and re-enter it and that it won't be stripped after that.

However, I'm comfused about where they strip it. My pins all still show my referral code in the initial link that I pinned. Where is it stripped from and how do I re-enter it?

Also, a belated welcome Elizabeth!!I look forward to your tips and suggestions!

Hi Everyone,

I apologize for the delayed response. I do want to let you know that I have a background in Marketing, Affiliate Marketing, and Social Media. I do have a Zazzle store, and I am constantly looking at various case studies of successful Zazzle and other online stores, as well as for new ways to promote.

That being said, are there any topics in particular you'd like me to cover in my Tips & Tricks segments? Are there any topics you'd like me to stay away from?

Thanks,

Elizabeth P.

Elizabeth, I would love to know about the rules for posting to the Zazzle facebook page.
I often see sk's posting there about sales and new products, and I can see how the would be good promotion, but I'm reluctant to do so myself, since I'm not sure how Zazzle feels about that.

Hi there!

We do not have any particular rules about posting on the Zazzle Facebook page, everyone is welcome to post appropriate and relevant content. One thing to keep in mind is not to post too much because it can get removed as spam. Posting complementary & timely content to Zazzle's posts a few times a week works. This week we had a Halloween post go out, so posting some of your Halloween products would be great, especially if there is a fun and interesting story to go along with the post. We will be changing some of our social media policies soon, and we will send out an update when that happens.

Hope this helps!

Have a great day!

Thanks so much for the reply Elizabeth! I had been wondering about this for a long time, so I'm glad to know how zazzle feels about it. Thanks!

Whatever happened to using
Code:
&zbar=true
in our links? Is that useless now? Are there other recommended adds to a standard link instead?

Elizabeth,

Could you please give us some answers on Pinterest? Do the referrals work or not? I know of some Zazzlers that say they get referrals from it and then I've heard countless others say their referrals do not work. Is there an official word on this?

Hi Pinkowlz,

Sorry for the very delayed response - this one fell through the cracks.
If you are still interested to know, Pinterest should count your referrals as long as you create a Pinterest business page.

Lately I've been checking the link after I've pinned, and sometimes the referral is there, and sometimes it's missing. So, for safety, I just check each time - and if it's not there, I replace the link with the referral code in it. Hope this helps. Smile

Hi! I have a query about using URL shorteners? If I use something like Bitly to shorten a referral link, would that effect the referral code? Also, Redirecting a URL to a referral URL? I have been using my web URL that way and have had sales and referrals - the trouble is I'm not sure where my customers are coming from - actual referral links or shortened URLs, or redirected URLs!
Sorry - it's so complicated xd

I need basic, fundamental help. I've searched the forums, tutorials and looked at the blog (is there a search feature on the blog? if so, I couldn't find it) but I'm still in the dark. Sorry.

Is there somewhere that I can go to learn all about what referrals and affiliate links are and all the ins and outs of how to set them up? I mean the basics, with puppets, for a complete novice?

Sorry to be so green, but this is all new to me.

Okay, I've figured out the referral link thing. Still working on the finer points of the product links but I'm making progress. Thanks.

Hi Langley,

Here are a few links to help you get started:

All your associate information can be found here:
http://www.zazzle.com/my/associate/associate

All your referral reports can be found here:
https://www.zazzle.com/my/earnings/summary

(On the left-hand side)

How to build links:
Examples:

Store Link:
http://www.zazzle.com/YourStoreName?rf=238XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Product Link:
http://www.zazzle.com/product_description-PID?rf=238XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Tracking:
If you would like to track your links, so you can see which links people clicked on to make a purchase you can add a tracking code to your link by adding &tc=yourtrackingcode

For example, if you want your tracking code to be "facebook1" then here is how the links will look:

Store Link:
http://www.zazzle.com/YourStoreName?rf=238XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX&tc=facebook1

Product Link:
http://www.zazzle.com/product_description-PID?rf=238XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX&tc=facebook1

URL shortners do not affect your referral code,so feel free to use them.

Hope this helps!
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!
Elizabeth

If you want to see where your tracking code shows up when you make a referral sale, have a look at this blog post, which includes a screenshot of my Referral History (with private stuff obscured):
