Planning for 2019

Hi Designers!

To start 2019 off right, we’ve created a calendar of this year’s key holidays so you understand when it’s best to design and promote these seasonal products. In addition, we’re including a few housekeeping tips for you to keep in mind as you grow your store and brand this year.

The general rule is to start designing 3-6 months in advance of the holiday and start promoting 1-2 months prior to the holiday. Remember to keep in mind production and shipping times (which vary depending on the product) when you’re designing and promoting your products.

Now that you’ve added these dates to your calendar, it’s time to take a look at a few housekeeping tips!

Tip #1 Update your designs for all occasions.

It’s true that specific holidays are a focus for many shoppers during certain time periods, but occasions like weddings, baby showers, bridal showers, bachelor/bachelorette parties, birthday parties, etc. happen all year round! Refreshing designs for all occasions can help you stay on trend and drive more sales.

If you’re crunched for time, reviewing your royalty history and referral history from last year can tell you what designs and product types sold the most during a certain week and/or month. This will give you a good idea of knowing what products to focus on at what time.

Tip #2 Stay informed about Zazzle updates.

Visit our news forum weekly (even daily if you can) to see important Zazzle updates. Two recent updates that you should take a peek at, if you haven’t already, are design groupings and Zazzle icons.

Tip #3 Use resources to learn tips.


Zazzle has multiple resources including the blog, Zazzle Chat videos and the forums where you can learn about designing, promoting, new products and more! Our latest tips & tricks blog post talks about Pinterest trends, which can provide inspiration for your 2019 designs.

Tip #4 Don’t forget to promote.

Promote your products on your blog, website or social media site! If you’re logged in, your Associate ID will be automatically added when you use our Email This to a Friend tool, Link to This tool or social share buttons. Sign-up for our Associates newsletter to receive weekly updates about upcoming promotions so you can plan your posts ahead of time.

Don’t create your own designs? Give a shout-out to our brand partners or some of your own favorite Designers by sharing their products with your readers.

Tip #5 Check what’s being featured on the site.

Go on Zazzle to see what products are featured in on the home page and the coupons page, or any other department that is relevant to you. This will help you find out what’s hot and what our merchandising team is looking for when they choose designs to feature. Don’t forget to check our new arrivals page and news forum for the latest new products, which we’re always looking to feature.
