Important update to referral payments
Posted: Thursday, June 18, 2015 9:23:30 AM
We’ve got an important announcement to share with you. Starting July 1st, 2015, due to recent changes in certain state tax laws, Zazzle will no longer be making referral payments on sales shipped to addresses within your state if your payment address with Zazzle is in one of the below states. For example, if your payment address is in Connecticut, and you refer a sale with a shipping address that is also in Connecticut, then you will not receive a referral payment. Referral payments from sales that ship to addresses outside your state are not affected. The affected states are-

Connecticut
Illinois
Michigan
Missouri
New Jersey
North Carolina
Pennsylvania
Vermont

Q&A

When does this change go into effect?

This change goes into effect on July 1st, 2015.

Why are these 8 states affected?

Zazzle is making this change due to tax-related Nexus legislation in these states. This legislation impacts out-of-state retailers who are doing business in that state.

Am I still allowed to participate in the Associates program?

Yes. If you are a resident of one of the above 8 states as designated by your payment address, then you may continue to participate in the Zazzle Associates program, just with the above-mentioned change for referrals within your state.

Will there be any changes in the future?

Zazzle is monitoring state legislation in all 50 states and may make updates in the future based on passed or pending legislation that impacts Zazzle.

How does this work?

If you use your referral code to refer a sale that is within your state based on shipping address for that order, then you will not receive a referral payment. For example, if your payment address is in Connecticut, and you refer a sale with a shipping address that is also in Connecticut, then you will not receive a referral payment. Referral payments for sales that ship to addresses outside your state are not affected.
