Amazon FAQ's

Hi Designers,

We’ve been speaking directly with Amazon about its notice and take down processes. We have assurance from those at Amazon that they take your concerns very seriously and are committed to working with us to address your infringement complaints. To do so, Amazon has developed specific instructions for Zazzle designers, which will help its teams identify the accused infringers and take appropriate action. And to help you navigate the complaint process, we’ve put together the below FAQ’s.

Here is some Amazon vocabulary to help in submitting your referral.

PDP (Product Detail Page): A Product Detail Page is an individual product’s webpage, where customers read details about a product for sale on Amazon. A Product Detail Page includes product images and text describing a product.

ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number): Amazon Standard Identification Numbers (ASINs) are unique blocks of 10 letters and/or numbers that identify items. You can find an ASIN on an item’s Product Detail Page. For books, the ASIN is the same as the ISBN number. For all other products a new ASIN is created when the item is uploaded to Amazon’s catalogue. Typically the ASIN is in the “Product Details” section of an item’s Product Detail Page. You may need to scroll to the middle of a product’s Product Detail Page to find the ASIN.

1) How can I submit copyright complaints to Amazon?

There are two paths for reporting Zazzle copyright infringements to Amazon:
a. Online Report Infringement form: https://www.amazon.com/report
b. Via Email: Notice@amazon.com; put “Zazzle Image Report” in the subject line

2) If I get a message from Amazon about using Amazon’s Report Infringement form, does that mean I cannot email my copyright infringement complaint to Amazon?

No. You can choose whether to report via email or through Amazon’s online Report Infringement form. Even if you receive a message from Amazon encouraging you to use the Report Infringement form, it is still up to you whether to submit via email or through the form.

3) Does Amazon have a template I can use for copyright complaints submitted by email?

Yes. Please use the following template for copyright complaints you submit via email. Simply fill in the highlighted blanks with your information and submit to notice@amazon.com with the subject line “Zazzle Image Report.”

Dear Amazon,

I am a Zazzle designer. My name is ___________________.
Amazon can contact me via email at __________.

I understand that Amazon may share a name and email with third-party sellers on Amazon who posted the content I want removed. I also understand that Amazon recommends using a name (e.g., “Head of Brand Protection”) and email (e.g., brandprotection@company.com) that do not contain individual people’s names for the contact information Amazon would provide to third-party sellers (if relevant). If I would like to provide this alternate contact information, I have provided it below:

Name: __________________________________
Email address: ____________________________

I understand that if I have not provided an alternate name and email address, Amazon may use my primary contact details provided at the beginning of this email.

My Copyrights. I am the owner of the following copyrights which I believe are being infringed by content on Amazon:

[Here, please list your copyright registration numbers, OR paste in images of your copyrighted designs OR provide URLs on Zazzle or any other website that show your copyrighted designs.]

Content on Amazon I want removed. I believe the following content on Amazon infringes my copyright(s):

[Here, please list the ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number) or the URL of each listing you claim infringes.]

I have a good faith belief that the content(s) described above violate(s) my rights described above, and that the use of such content(s) is contrary to law.

I declare, under penalty of perjury, that the information contained in this notification is correct and accurate and that I am the owner or agent of the owner of the rights described above.

Signed,

[Your name here]

4) I want an entire Product Detail Page removed because I believe the product listed for sale on that page infringes my copyright. What should I do?

If you submit your complaint using the Report Infringement form:

(1) Go to the drop-down menu for “The primary complaint pertains to” and select “copyright concerns.”

(2) Go the drop-down menu for “The specific concern is” and select “physical product or its packaging includes unauthorized copyrighted content.”

(3) Input the ASINs or URLs of the Product Detail Pages you want removed.

(4) Go to the Scope drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the page and select “all sellers.”

If you submit your complaint by email to notice@amazon.com using the email template Amazon has provided, Amazon will assume that you are requesting the removal of entire Product Detail Pages.

5) I want images on a Product Detail Page removed because I believe they infringe my copyright, but I am not asking Amazon to remove the entire Product Detail Page. What should I do?

If you submit your complaint using the Report Infringement form:

(1) Go to the drop-down menu for “The primary complaint pertains to” and select “copyright concerns.”

(2) Go to the drop-down menu for “The specific concern is” and select “image is used without authorization on Amazon website.”

(3) Input the ASINs or URLs of the Product Detail Pages where the images you want removed appear.

(4) Go to the Scope drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the page and select “specific images.”

(5) Check the boxes next to the images that you want removed.
If you submit your complaint by email to notice@amazon.com using the email template Amazon has provided, Amazon will assume that you are requesting the removal of entire Product Detail Pages. Therefore, please note in your complaint that “I want to report image infringement and only have the images removed from the product detail below” below the list of ASINs or URLs that are being reported.

6) If I wish to report copyright infringement to Amazon outside the United States, where can I do so?

Thanks!
Christine
