Newbie Quick Product Create Questions
Posted: Monday, September 2, 2019 10:20:37 AM
Hi everyone,

I'm just getting started with my shop and would like to use Quick Product Create as efficiently as possible. It seems that the automated template version wants me to put my photos on lots of garments and items I'm not really interested in and doesn't allow me to choose new products that I'd rather use instead. I haven't figured out yet how to make my own templates, and am not sure that would even accomplish what I'd like to do.

One big thing that I want to do is to create numerous postcards and notecards, but don't want to have to do them all one at a time. Is there a quick way to do those specific products in Quick Product Create? I've been poking around all weekend and haven't seen a way to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Another way I wanted to work was to pick a blank product and apply many of my images to create multiple customized ones - Like magnets with all my covered bridge pics for instance. Is that possible?

One last thing - I changed the name of my store but the backend code still shows the original store name - am I stuck with that and do I need to create a whole new store and move the products, or is there a something I've just missed?

Thanks in advance! This forum is fantastic!

1st - your store name and resultant URL.

You can change the name that displays on your store pages, but the url will remain the same.
If you want the URL to reflect the new store name, you will have to open a new store and transfer any existing products to the new store (removing them from the original store).

You can create multiple products with a placeholder image/text (each product will have same number of images and text with same identifying label) - save to a hidden section in your backend, then call up that section in Quick Create (I haven't used it in a year or two, so not exactly certain of the procedure).
This would enable creating multiple products of same image/text.

It sounds as if you want to make one type of product with multiple images/text. This can not be done in one group. You can CUSTOMIZE an existing product (one you just created) and change image/text, alter any tags (these get carried over with CUSTOMIZED button) then save as a new product. ... Repeat for all changes for that product.

Best of luck

Thanks for the rapid reply!

Your answer confirmed my fear that I would have to close the shop down and start over - I know I can move the items but I'm guessing they'll disappear from public view for a day or so until the new shop is confirmed or approved?

My other question was twofold - is there a way to customize which products I always get in Quick Create, (and the more I poke around the less likely that looks) and if not, is there a quicker way to create many of the same style of item than one at a time. I'm playing with reusing a template now but I'm not sure I've created it correctly. But I probably shouldn't create any more until I've moved all the existing items into the new shop, correct?

Thanks again!

What I do is just create a category called "qc", then select the product I want. I do a number of stickers that have the same image/theme but different text scenarios, so I select the sticker I want, put my "dummy" QC image on it, make it a template object, put some text on the top and bottom (make those template text objects). Then I "sell" them, mark as "hidden" because I use a dummy image for the template object, and assign it to my "qc" category.

Then, when that's available in the store, I select it again, make the text a different color, then it will allow me to "sell" it, and I do the same hidden/category thing, and now I have 2 of the same stickers in my qc category. You can do that as many times as you want.

Then when I go to Quick Create I have to assign one image to all the template image objects in my "qc" category, BUT it's easy to replace those while you're in QC, and you can just delete the dummies you didn't use, goes much quicker than doing separate QCs when you have a bunch of same or similar image or text themes going on. You should only do that if you're using all the same titles and tags for one group. You may have to modify some of your titles and tags after the products show up in your store.
