Refresh My Memory re Volume Bonus?
Posted: Thursday, July 18, 2019 7:12:22 AM
I thought for some reason that the Volume Bonus program was discontinued a long time ago. Now I see I have pending ones from June & July (small ones, LOL, but they are there) but can't make any sense out of what I am looking at. The Volume Bonus page says "We calculate your volume bonuses 30 days after the end of every month." So how can it be showing totals already for July or even June? And I know that sales marked as referred by 3rd Party don't count (it says so at the bottom of the Royalty History page) but even ignoring those, the totals I get by viewing my royalty history and adding up the dollar amount of sales for a month does not match the totals given on the Volume Bonus page for that month. For example, for March the total $sales shown on the VB report is $33 & change less than the total $sales shown on the Royalty History page.
Not looking to get rich on volume bonuses, I just hate not knowing how things are figured out or what the numbers I am looking at apply to.

My understanding of the volume bonus program is this:

Volume bonus amounts are based on a percentage of the base price on sales for which you received a referral. If you did not receive a referral for the sale of the product, volume bonus does not apply.

The more referrals you receive in a given month, the more your volume bonus will be. Mind you, it's a very small number unless you have lots of referrals:
1% of Base Sales, from $100 to $999.99; plus
5% of Base Sales, from $1,000 to $4,999.99; plus
12% of Base Sales, from $5,000 to $99,999.99; plus
17% of Base Sales, for Base Sales $100,000 and above.

Volume bonus stats (amounts, etc) show each month the referral sale occurs, the same as your other sales states show each month. They remain pending until the 30 days has elapsed and are paid out after those referral sales have cleared.

Hope this is helpful. Susan

Nod from me.

Volume bonus is only accrued off of "Self" and referred sales. So, anything that shows up in your "Referral Reports - Referral History" report.

Ahh! So the fine print only specifies "Third-Party" as not counting, but "None" also doesn't count. And then they add in the total sales where you were the referrer but not the seller. Going to go do some more math and see if the totals match up that way. Thankyou.

Correct.

You are receiving the bonus for new business you promoted into the site thru social media or exterior links. Not by regular organic sales.

Did the math for 6 different months and all were still coming up short (VB sales amount less than total referred sales amount).
And then I found this policy/volume_bonus_agreement and now I see why.
So OK, first it's on a domain by domain basis so each region/currency is treated as basically it's own VB program tally. And then it's only on Base sales, so the "mark-up" (royalties), referral fees, and transactions fees paid out are not included in the total sales figure used on the VB report.
