Microsoft warns Windows 10 users to update immediately 2 pages: 1 [2]

My laptop is old and is used for writing only. I even have the internet disabled. The OS? Windows XP. Stable. Doesn’t hide any functions. It was designed for work, not play. My opinion is that it’s all been downhill since then. I recently considered replacing the laptop until my husband asked why and my son, whose laptop uses Win10, told me it’s an OS trying to be all things to all people and, therefore, isn’t great for anyone. Maybe when the time comes to get a new laptop or a new desktop (Win7), Microsoft will have developed an OS for people who need to get work done.

Yeah, I’m an old fogey who started computing with CP/M when Windows didn’t exist.

Not to start a panic or anything (and this hasn't happened to me--Knock wood!), but my husband called the following article to my attention this morning:

Orange Update

If this were April, I'd think it's a hoax. But, PCMag is generally pretty reliable.

Glad I don't use Windows. I have been on Linux for years. When I got a new to me laptop at Goodwill with Windows I immediately switched it all over to Linux and deleted Windows.

hmmm, well at least it is a nice fall color... Idea

but seriously how weird, I have it sitting in my settings app ready to download and it says it is optional, however I can find no way to refuse it. This could seriously hinder us as designers! If Windows auto installs it on me I will let you know what happens.

Well I did install an update but it wasn't the same one. Hopefully I can get by with not opting for the orange update!
