Excluded from promotions

I just noticed that promotional emails from Zazzle link to a list of stores excluded from promotions and volume discounts on the site. Does anyone know why that is or how that happens?

The stores aren’t shopkeeper stores, but maker stores. Products that are sold via Zazzle, but they are not products that we can design on. For some products they may have specifics in their partner contracts that exclude discounts, etc.

I think they maybe used to be, Maz, but I don't believe that's the case now. Looking at the list a few weeks ago made me think they were high-level Designers who were given the option to opt out. That's entirely speculation on my part. I don't know that to be fact.

Yeah, I noticed the excluded stores too and there are top designers in there also, so they might get the option to opt out.

Who would opt out of a promotion?

I dunno. seems like a missed opportunity on purpose. Zazzle is all about it's promotions. to opt out would be like the rest of us raising our royalties to 75%.

I was expecting to see Disney or My Little Pony in there, they have an exclusive audience after all, conventions are based on these brands. but no, I don't recognize any of those stores right off the top of my head and some of them have very few products and seem to be only a crumb of an actual store and no brands that I am aware of.

curious indeeeeeeed, lol.

these designers must bring in major traffic.

I recognized a couple. At least one I know uses the API extensively. That might be a Store with Public Template Products only and no Public Categories = looks empty.

i just found this list too after being on zazzle forever. i do know several things though that have been mentioned are not the reasons they are exempt because i know some of those exempt well enough to know these things are not it.
not just makers,
not just high level,
not category related.

someone said it was an opt in at one point but maybe not now, however they were still on it.

i don't want to be on the list but i was curious too.

The promoter stores that they recently started are exempt from sales and the Marketplace. And it seems like some that set up one store that way said that the other stores they have are also affected negatively... things like no referral codes on share buttons anymore etc...

I know for me personally it would not be a good idea.

You are correct, Shelli. A designer with a promoter store on their account will see their standard stores become "promoter" by association.

yikes, the implications if you didn't fully understand that ahead of time... what a shock!
