Can't help it - gotta do it 2 pages: [1] 2
Posted: Wednesday, January 29, 2020 8:34:58 AM
It was published at the beginning of January, and I held back from doing anything other than mentioning it in an offhand way here on the forums, but darn it all, I can't stand it anymore. I'm proud of myself and have to tell you about my novel with cats as the main characters along with one border collie. Family, peril and hardship, kittens and wisdom, plus a happy ending. (I hate sad endings.)

https://www.amazon.com/dp/1654193259
If you happen to have Kindle Unlimited, the e-book version is free.

Cool Barbara! in the spirit of watership down only for catladies?

I haven't used my kindle app for a long time but this is worth firing it up again!

Adding... I don't have kindle unlimited but I also don't mind paying for a book written by a colleague.

Wow! Congratulations! That's quite an achievement.

Congratulations and I love the cover art! Roses

Love the cover. I have a Kindle, but not unlimited. I usually only read the free books. But I will have a look see.

Thank you everyone for responding. It makes me feel not quite so alone in my imaginary world.

This has been a truly eye-opening experience for me. I've published over the years, but there were always editors, copy editors, cover artists, layout artists, etc. When publishing on Amazon, a person has to wear all those hats. I fell on my face a lot more than once while trying to climb the mountain. My chin is still a wreck.

Woohoo, congrats! I finally published a fantasy novel in 2018 I'd been holding onto for forever. I have two sequels. Maybe I should get those up too. LOL

Big kudos from one author to another! Idea

I have another book that I wrote years ago and came a skinny hair away from selling to Little Brown. I've been sulking ever since. It's time I looked it over, formatted it for paperback and Kindle, and published it. You too. Go for it!

I made to page 29, Chapter 3 last night. I think it is safe to say even at this early stage that I will not have to send you a PM.

Thank you for all your well wishes. I really need them. As an indie writer, I probably need magic fairy dust. Do you know just how many of us are on Amazon? It's an act of torture to merely think about it.

@buxmontweb: Each of us is probably in awe of something like that. My awe often goes to musicians, in particular the classical sorts of composers. How on earth do they even do that?! And then I realize they can't help but do that. Some people can't keep from painting or cooking fabulous dishes or playing an instrument. We all have our compulsions. Mine is putting daydreams down on paper.

@Shelli: HUGE sigh of relief!

Thanks so much, Sue.

Mention of the cover reminds me that there a few examples of that kitty on my products here, though not with the pine branch. I'm not sure if I should delete those products. My gut says I should, but I'm not sure why. Does anyone have thoughts about this? My own thought process seems to have stalled out on it.

I wouldn't delete it. it is your kitty you can put him where you want to. But that is just me...

Interesting side note. I was browsing the nypl public domain collections yesterday and many of the vintage posters are book covers.

That's definitely interesting. Were the posters used for advertising books "back in the day"?

It looks that way to me since they have borders like an art print and it says "sold here" somewhere on most of them.

They remind me of vintage movie posters.

Your fault, Shelli. I spent over two hours this morning looking at the posters and then expanding the search and then wandering down side paths and finally shooting off into an alternate universe.

Amazon has a free app for reading their e-books. I have it on my iPad, but I assume they have versions for pretty much everything. After all, Amazon is out to rule the world, right?

Hey, it is a great place to get lost!

I also want to update you on my reading... we have Chaser back. Smile

and... I will never look at my cats and dogs the same again.

Smile

later I will tell you a story of what happened to Cheeto a few days ago.
Posted: Sunday, February 02, 2020 9:16:35 AM
A small part of Chaser was styled after the half-border-collie I grew up with. She loved cats, and in particular kittens. She co-mothered the ones our cat had.

I'll be waiting for the tale of Cheeto.
