Wrong Product in Category
Posted: Tuesday, January 14, 2020 1:58:13 PM
I am having many HUGH problems with My line of Cuff Links mixed into my Tablecloth Category. If one searches "Tablecloth, gaye elise beda." A few of my Table cloths appear, then my Cull Link Line, my Money clip line, my mugs line, ALL appear in my table cloth category. How can I get the correct product in the correct store category?

You have to edit each item in your back end I believe and place them where they should be individually.

I put this in the marketplace search, "Tablecloth, gaye elise beda.", and I get,

"Results for "gaye elise"
No results found for ""Tablecloth, gaye elise beda""

A few catagories appear across the top.

Home Furnishings & Pet Supplies

Accessories

Electronics & Tech Accessories

Office & School

If I go to your store and look at your category tree, I see "Featured Products" listed twice and "New Products" listed once.

Maybe, your working on everything and it needs to be indexed...

But as Nicole said, you can move products into the proper categories from your backend. You can even do them in bulk, not just one by one.

Best of luck

Hi Gaye, I can't seem to find any tech issue related to the information that you provided so I will be moving this to Your Zazzle Store.

You can find more information on categories here. Thanks Smile

If you are searching "Fabrics, Gaye Elise Beda." The search algorithm will search for each of those 4 words. And will return results for each of those words. So if you have tagged your products with any of those 4 words the search will find each product with those tags.

I think this may actually be causing your products to show up when you don;t expect them to.

To "fix in your backend"

Go to your stores product page.

Under each product there will be two options. Share and Actions

Click on Actions.

Choose "set store category" from drop down...

Proceed from there to change the category the product is assigned to.

Hi JB Design,
I have been working on my category problem for two months now. I did go to the product page, Click on Action, the set category. Only New Products and Feature Products shows up. I CAN NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM ON MY OWN. I need help.

Plus, My Zazzle and Google Analytic lost connection. GA said it was a Zazzle problem. I need help here, too.

Are these two problems related?

Please help me with this indexing problem. I am so Lost Here. I set the correct category, when I set up the each new product.

And The Boxer Shorts Line, NOT showing up, is also, a Hugh problem. What's with that?

Please help. I have been with Zazzle for years. I never had any problems until a few months ago. That's why you have never heard my name before. Again, Please Help.

Thank you for your time, Gaye Elise

If you have created your own categories, I can't see them. I would create a new thread in the Technical Issues part of the forums. Give your store address. That your category tree is malfunctioning. Perhaps include in the category id or url. (ie. https://www.zazzle.com/store/pacifiercity/products?dp=0&cg=196978986299802863 or just the id# 196978986299802863)

I know they moved your first post from the tech forum, but I think with the above info and description of the problem it will stay there and they can look into whats going on.

Sorry I could not help more.

If you are searching within the general Zazzle marketplace the search algorithm treats each word separately and then brings up a mix of products for each word.

I searched the Zazzle marketplace for boxer shorts gaye elise beda and it was all other peoples' boxer shorts (that are ranked high in the MP) and other peoples' boxer dog designs. This is because the boxer shorts and boxer dog designs are being treated independently of the tags of your name.

If I search gaye elise beda, suddenly it's all your stuff (because those tags are unique to you) and I can then drill down to your boxer shorts.

All of that was done with the assumption that when you said "category" you actually meant "Zazzle marketplace department". But if you actually created a bunch of store categories that have suddenly disappeared, that is a different problem and has nothing to do with searching because our store categories don't show up in search.

Hi Gaye, I checked your store and confirmed that no categories are created yet for it, as others noted. Here follows some links to articles that might be of use with this subject:

I hope this information is useful to you. Let me know if any other questions come up and I will be more than happy to help.

Just popping in to help clarify what I think may be adding to your confusion.
The huge problems you've been experiencing are partly caused by Zazzle mixing up the terminology they use on site when compared to the terminology used in our stores' back-ends.

The term I'm on about is category. Have a look at this screenshot:

Do you see how they use the term category on the main site? In the screenshot it says "Refine by Category" at the top of that drop-down list... In our store's back ends though, those aren't categories, they're instead known as departments (or as near to as makes no difference) and that's where I think your confusion arises.

In our back-ends, department equates to product type (or groupings of product types) whereas the term category equates to something that's more like the folders we have on our PCs. Once we've made some categories for our store, we can put our designed products in them.

The links Tiago has given you show you to make those store back-end categories (remember, =folders, sort of) so you can organise things in your store.

I hope that makes sense and helps you some

Thanks everyone for your input....but....I am NOW more confuse than ever.
When I created my Boxer Short Line. The Category was boxer shorts. Anyone should be able to search boxer shorts within my store and my boxer short line should appear.... And yet, No Boxer Shorts, show up.....Here comes the "Even MORE Confused." Zazzle's tech people, want me to set up a category using the subject matter of the design, not the product. ( I.E. boxer shorts)

I want/NEED the category by product TO WORK! As JD Design said. There is a problem in the coding of Category by PRODUCT! I CAN NOT FIX THAT. I need help. .... Please, No more chatter about category by subject matter of design. I have no interest in that.

And again, I have a problem with my Zazzle and Google Analytic connection. GA Said it was a Zazzle problem. Are these two coding problems related?

And Again, I need the category by product to work. The Same Category by Product that is set up during the "Set up for Sale" Process.

Tech people. Are you confused about what my coding problem is? Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

And I do deeply appricate everyone's time and consideration.

1 - If you search your store for boxers instead of boxer shorts you will find them.

2 - You have not created store categories. You have two featured categories and a new products category. Your store lacks organization because of this.

The coding by product does work. But Zazzle calls the boxer shorts just "boxers". There is no "shorts" in the product name so the ones you made will only show up in a search for "boxer shorts" if you use "shorts" as one of your tags.

I went to your store and went to Products and replicated the searches you described. Nothing was in the wrong place.

There is obvious confusion happening here... no offense.

Here is where to learn to upload screen shots / snap shots:

Hopefully some screen shots will help us understand, and then we can better assist you.

Thank you JB. for the inform.

This is my problem. Here is only seven examples. I have Alot more. Many, many many more/

So lets look at your boxer shorts search page image.

Item 1 is Zazzles template.

Why, because this is a general Market Place search and you used the words boxer shorts in your search. Since they are the first two words in your search they have high priority. And when someone searchs for a product Zazzle automatically makes their template the first item in search. (98% of the time at least)

Item 2 is a pair of socks with boxer dogs on it.

Why, because boxer is used in the search term. Those socks are either a really good seller or they just sold, and perhaps were the most recent item sale that had the term boxer.

Item 3 is a pair of boxers. It is probably one of the best selling designs that appear on boxers.

Why, because boxer shorts appears in the title and the description. They are also Valentine themed, getting preference this time of year.

--

Adding your name (shop name) in the way that you did does not trigger the site to only show your stuff. I played around a bit and found that if you type:

"Gaye Elise Beda" boxers

exactly as you see it there, your boxers will be listed. The entire first page is your boxer short designs. On the second page some socks get mixed in, but everything is yours.

Why, Because "Gaye Elise Beda" is put in quotes and is first. The algorithm looks at the first search term and starts pulling products to display from that word. When Gaye Elise Beda is in quotes it is seen as all one search term. But when not in quotes each word is searched for. So anyone that has the word Elise in a title description or tags are fair game for the search algorithm to find. In your search on that page:

boxer shorts, Gaye Elise Beda

The search algorithm is going to think that you are most interested first in products that have boxer in tags title and descriptions, then shorts then Gaye then Elise and then Beda.

This algorithm has some intelligence to it since it recognizes that boxer and shorts next to each other, without quotes, means that the searcher is looking for "boxer shorts." Boxer shorts is probably a pretty popular search term, with or without quotes.

I don't believe you will be happy to read this. But it looks like the search algorithm is working properly.

If you have other questions I can try and explain more.

Cheers.

Yup, what JB said. Nothing needs to be fixed. Nothing is in the wrong category. This is just how MP search works.

Are You saying that nothing is wrong with these pages as well?

And For the fifth time. My Conection with Zazzle and Google analytic is not working. I need help with this problem as well.

Thank you for your time.
Posted: Monday, February 03, 2020 2:17:49 AM
There is no category malfunction. There is nothing to solve. What you are seeing is just the way Zazzle search works. JB Design's post explains it in depth. Nothing is going wrong. Your search terms will just pull up things from multiple categories.

You can't use the search function to figure out what category something is in because that's not what it's designed for. It's designed for customers who are searching not just for specific products but also for themes which may be in all sorts of categories. The search lets them see the intersection of product and theme.

If you want to know what category something is in, do not use the search function. Instead, drill down through the category tree or look at the top of the page on a product page which will also tell you.

I don't use google analytics so don't know about that.
