Losing Followers 2 pages: [1] 2

I just noticed my store has one less follower, what does that mean, they don't like me?
Posted: Saturday, January 04, 2020 9:57:49 AM
lol, or maybe they left the building...

seems like the only people following me are other designers anyway so...

btw I am not following you but I do like you Smile

I wouldn't worry too much about it. I've read apparently followers used to mean something here but as of now I think people usually follow you so they can find you easier for whatever reason.

I just lost one follower too. Maybe it was the same person.

to complete profile, you have to follow a certain number of people...so I don't take too much notice, but stilL I do follow some I love the designs of!

What? I've never heard of that. If you are right it must be new since I started here.

Most likely they unfollowed you because unfollowing is just easier than finding where to turn off the constant notifications every time you sneeze in your store.

yup, and also liking a certain number of products, any number of tasks which are similar to other sites (not POD) such as wet canvas, that's how I knew to look for suchthings. Wetcanvas used to award you with stuff for such activities, actually it may be a store completing, cannot really remember or find it again...but I followed a number of ppl, liked some products, and a few other things. If I find it again will post it here

What notifications? I don't think there are any...but if there were that would be an excellent reason to unfollow.

There were notifications with the original Follow setup, which existed when I joined. I very, very quickly unfollowed even my favorite designers due to the constant email. It must have been just before you joined that Zazzle dropped the entire thing. I'm not sure there's much benefit to the new version other than for affiliates who are interested in seeing designers' newest designs.

When you open a store in Zazzle you do not have to follow anyone nor like any number of products.

There aren't with the Follow. There was with the old Fan Club.

Profile Completion isn't contingent on Following designers or Liking products. Neither of those things are even in the list of things to do for completion.
Posted: Saturday, January 04, 2020 5:32:22 PM
no might have that wrong may just be store completion,IDK,its somewhere here, cos I followed a list.
Posted: Saturday, January 04, 2020 5:44:53 PM

It isn't in Profile completion unless Z just added it. You must be confusing Z with other PODS, because even Z said the Follow list is for customers. That means we don't have to follow to complete tasks. We don't have to like products, either. If we want to, it is just because we actually like a product, but neither product liking, or following, will do anything towards completing a profile. Now, if someone can come here with a screenshot of a fresh profile, or Z can tell me it is now a task, then I will apologize for saying neither are tasks.

No. The thread you linked to is a discussion about commenting. This thread is about following.

Exactly! Two different things! And, if I recall correctly, commenting is now no longer a task since comments have been disabled/removed.

When I first got here, there was nothing called a Fan Club. Did they simply change the name, calling it Follow instead? That's where I ended up having to delete all my "follows."

We had the Fan Club many moons ago and it was horrid! When people "fanned" you they got notified every single time you posted a new product (unless you went into your settings and opted out of sending notifications). Stealing designs, and copycatting, was out of hand because of it! People began wanting mutual Fans, like some designers now have asked for mutual Follows. If *you* didn't return the "favor", well, you lost a fan. I refused mutual fanning and I refuse mutual follows. I rarely joined anyone's Fan Club and I do not Follow anyone here. Follow is meant for customers. Fan Clubs were, too. In corresponding with a few customers, out of curiosity, I brought up the Fan Club to them to get their thoughts. They hated it! They said had no need to join any fan club at all and no desire to receive emails. Most that joined mine were other designers. And, much like I feel is happening with Follow, getting Fan Club members became a competition and a popularity contest.

I have a vague memory of shutting off the Fan Club. My memory could be shot there but, if I am remembering correctly, then I wish that same option could be set up for the "Follow".

Fan clubs and following are both products of a social media mindset, which is likely a poor fit for retail businesses.

I usually don't worry about store and profile numbers, but decided to check today and one of my stores Profile is at 90% definitely has a LIKE requirement.

"Like 20 products (+10%)"

hmm...

That is weird because I just created some new stores and got them to 100% I had to create products, share products, create collections, share collections and upload media files. nothing about liking anything or following anyone. I wonder if there are different requirements for different browsers?
