Group Products?

What does "group products" in the "action" menu mean? I just noticed it now.

Ahhh, that is so cool. It looks like it replaces the old form for submitting products for grouping.

Very much appreciated! I wonder how long it's been there.

Wait... we were supposed to submit products for grouping? If so I reckon that is why I never found any of mine to be grouped lol

I was just about to ask the same question.

I’ve had several groupings without submitting any of them, but they all used background changes. It seemed the key to fast automatic grouping.

If they didn't automatically get grouped there was a form we could fill out and submit them. However I submitted several and they never got grouped so, it didn't work anyway.

Have you guys tried this yet? I have been covered up with new shoes and not had a chance yet... does it work?

I grouped a few keyboards that never got grouped. And I learned that keyboards are OOS btw, grr. I now have to wait and see though. This is what it says in the popup.

This process does not guarantee that the selected products will be grouped, only that they will be reviewed. If grouped, it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to appear on the site.

Wouldn't it just be simpler to put products in collections and not have to deal with the risk of grouping possibly not being accepted? *shrugs*

I think both... I really like the color groups, that right there you can switch back and forth just by clicking the different colored dots. I also think it is important to have all products in at least one collection, but collections are easy to overlook

Thanks Jerry for the copy of the info, I'll have to try it soon and at least get the process started.

I've a grouping in which I strongly suspect I've made sales solely because of the quick color changes, so I'm a proponent of grouping (along with collections).

I had originally sent in the form - not all of the items were grouped (2 of 4)

I am trying again with the new "Group Products" action (Much easier to use than the form).

Will see if it takes

I just submitted a grouping of four and am hoping the same as you are, BKMuir--that they take.

Hi Designers,

Here is a news article that points you to a help article with more information about this new feature.

I tried the Action reporting on Monday before their announcement. So far nothing has happened. Perhaps I was too early but it would be nice to know if they are just not going to group my products.

I wonder should I resubmit?

A grouping I submitted yesterday of four business cards in which only the colors were changed, everything else being the same, showed up today. The problem is that only two of the four got grouped, and I see no way of saying, "Hey, you forgot two of them."

Just in case anyone from Zazzle is looking, here are the two that were successfully grouped:
https://www.zazzle.com/elegant_gold_floral_business_or_personal_business_card-256697568523845458

https://www.zazzle.com/silvery_shine_on_slate_business_or_personal_business_card-256561066268928100

And here are the two that were left out:

Well that is no different than what happened when I used the Google form to submit them.

Your flower image is actually different with a different name in each case

Butterfly Flowers Gold
Butterfly Flowers Silver
Butterfly Flowers Red
Butterfly Flowers Yellow Green

and that may be a factor. It looks the same to us humans except for the different colors but for whatever auto-bot that is looking for things to group, the different element names may be a hurdle.

My experience with product grouping is that is seems to be a fluid situation. I made two collections with each product in them in four colors and it took some time for everything I intended to be grouped to eventually group. It took only overnight for the first groupings to happen but they were missing colors. And it also varied - they'd be grouped in the morning but hours later or sometimes only minutes they wouldn't be grouped again. After some time waiting to just let things settle down on its own (a week or so maybe, I'm not sure how long I waited) I did use the Google form to submit the missing colors. And everything eventually got grouped as complete sets and seemed to stay consistent. But even so, color variations sometimes fall out of the set. Like today, stickers I know were correctly grouped before are missing one of the four color variations. So it seems kind of fluid, like whatever "bot" is crawling products daily looking for matches changes its mind sometimes.

I would recommend just being patient and giving it some time to find those other two pieces of your group. ;)

You could be right about the titles. I’ll work on them to see if it helps. Thanks for taking a look.

True when grouping works but when it doesn't it looks really cr*ppy. I have a tumbler that was designed differently for each tumbler color but the grouping screwed it all up. Putting the same color design on just *one* grouped tumbler Crying

I submitted the form asking that they be *ungrouped* but as with so many things it didn't get done.

I just gave my halfway grouped products another try. I retitled them more consistently and resubmitted them even though there was no way to ungroup two of the four. I hope it doesn't make Zazzle fall down and go boom. :-)

Grouping is definitely not working as well as it did before we had the choice in the dropdown menu. I’m finding sets with products left out. Worse, when this happens, we have no recourse because resubmitting accomplishes nothing.

Something in the algorithm was changed when the menu choice was implemented, and it’s now faulty.
