Time to lower shipping on buttons, bumper stickers and other low cost items

With a new presidential election looming, I'd like to again request that shipping for items such as bumper stickers and buttons be reduced from $5.99 to something more realistic and less discouraging to new or low income customers. Zazzle should not expect people to pay that much shipping for an item that might cost $5.00 (what I charge for bumper stickers), and they certainly shouldn't expect people interested in these small ticket items to sign up for Zazzle Black, especially if they've never done business with Zazzle before.

During the last election I suggested that shipping on bumper stickers and buttons be reduced and much to my surprise someone listened and lower the cost to $1.95 which resulted in a huge uptick in my sales, but soon after the election shipping rates were returned to $5.99 and my sales dropped dramatically.

I'm sure Zazzle Black serves its purpose for repeat buyers, but the people I sent to Zazzle during the election were not interested in that. They simply wanted a bumper sticker, but I got more than a few emails from people saying they liked my work but there was no way they were going to spend $11.00 for one bumper sticker. And what incentive was there for them to sign up for Zazzle Black? None, because this isn't Amazon where they get other stuff along with it.

My suggestion then is to permanently reduce shipping on inexpensive items such as buttons and bumper stickers to something more in line with the actual cost to ship as a way of encouraging repeat business. Perhaps even offering free shipping to first time buyers on any item so they can see what Zazzle is about and then getting them to sign up with Zazzle Black, but expecting customers, especially first time or low income customers, to shell out an outrageous amount of money for a low cost item is simply not connected with reality and is only stifling business rather than encouraging it.

I agree, I hate paying shipping for anything. I always try to remember to check a sites shipping rates before I buy. I'll search other sites for the same thing and I usually find free shipping or atleast a much lower price. I've filled my cart with items on several occasions only to find out the shipping was outrageous. That killed the deal for me and I went elsewhere.

Agree. I pay close attention to shipping anytime I order something, no matter where from. I'm not likely to order from any company that charges flat rates - unless it works in my favor, lol. It doesn't seem right to pay the same for a lightweight, small item as something larger that weighs quite a bit more.
