Product totals not showing in store fronts 2 pages: [1] 2
Posted: Wednesday, August 21, 2019 10:23:32 AM
I noticed this morning that my number of products in my stores is no longer showing on my store fronts.

Hey MasterpieceCafe, I am not completely sure what you mean. Do you have an example of where you were able to see this before and I can take a look into for you? Smile

In the back end, isn't it on the top right of the page? I don't remember ever seeing it on the public view.

If you go to a store front

https://www.zazzle.com/store/yesterdaycafe/products

and scroll past my categories, on the right side, down to where it says

Sort by: Popular Show: 60

just above that is where a total number of products available in my store use to be. I check daily. Yesterday that number was 43298.

I track most of my stores to see how close I am to my 100k product cap.

After reading this I checked my public storefront and it's the same. Doesn't show the total number of products, but it does on the backend.

I see.

Let me see what I can find out.

Locking this until I have an update.

The removal of the product count on public-facing pages is intentional.

MasterpieceCafe - The product count on your store backend is still there, so perhaps you can use that for your count.

I am going to move this discussion over to Feedback in case anyone feels strongly about bringing this back.

Ah well. I guess we will no longer be having the following monthly forum thread that goes:

Newbie: I've been here for 3 months and I don't have any views yet.

Oldtimer: I went to your store and you only have 30 products. You need more.

Oldtimer: how many products do you have?

Newbie: 30

Oldtimer: that is not very many, you need more...

Shh!! Don't put this out in the universe! Stick out tongue

Well, I for one am not too keen on the omission unless it's going to be offset in some way not yet disclosed to us. The reason? I see it as yet another way to limit customer choice and designer exposure. Scenario: A shopper does a search. They are already limited to 17 pages of results at most. Yes, of course, they can drill down but the funnel gets narrower and narrower, the higher-profile designers more and more prominent. (Complaints about search at these levels have already been registered here in the forums.) If the customer then picks a given designer's item and goes to their store's pages and sees the "View All Products" category, they are shown only 17 pages of products displayed in a haphazard manner, products not chosen by the designer but by popularity or by some algorithm. Now those 17 pages may be representative of a designer's output. I dunno. You'd have to look at your own section to see if seems representative to you. But, the upshot is the shopper won't know there's more to see. Without that number somewhere prominent, I as a shopper would conclude the designer has only those 17 pages or 1020 products (17x60). At that point, if not before, I'd surely leave that designer.

I'd rather field the occasional Why-haven't-I-sold anything-yet question from a newbie with a handful of products than lose the potential exposure that total products number provides.

(Don't everybody jump on me all at once! Happy It's just my two cents! And, I am a small niche hobbyist.)

I always think taking away functionality is a bad idea... I don't know how many shoppers pay attention to numbers like that but what does it hurt to have it there for the ones who do?

@Scott I feel strongly! I’m really sad that this that gone. (as well as the totals in the departments)

How will I know what’s missing from my store front now?

It was really useful to compare departments in the store management area verses what's actually in the store front. Then I could edit the products that had mysteriously disappeared and get them back.

Please bring totals in the department drop down back

My guess is, that this has more to do with fellow designer competing for numbers or that old (gold and silver) pro stores who used to use quick create extensively and have extremely high number might motivate newbies to flood their stores with huge numbers neglecting quality over quantity in design as well as neglecting proper title, description and keywords due to mass volumes.

I too would like them back. This was one of two questions I asked in this thread: https://forum.zazzle.com/feedback/two_questions_aug_22_2019

I really miss this as well. I really liked having that total number there. I used to to see how many products I had and also when promoting other stores to see if I wanted to set up a scheduler to promote their many products or just do some speed pinning if say they only had a few designs and not many that I wanted to promote.
Posted: Friday, August 23, 2019 8:57:09 AM
For what it's worth, Nifty provides the number available publicly (for G rated products) in any store. Same when you put in a store category, or any search for that matter.

Yes, I realize it would be better if it was available directly on Z but it's a workaround that works.

The new format sucks, makes no sense and will drive away customers as well as designers.

Thanks. I liked being able to see what my customers saw and knowing how many products were visible to them. I can't recreate that in the backend. I guess I'm not going to bother tracking this anymore.

I appreciate the update.

Just my 2-cents...

But, I DO want the numbers back--both the grand total and the numbers of products per department in the dropdown menus--in the public storefront views.

Scott, can you share why the product counts were taken off? Maybe that will help us understand and better accept this decision.

Thanks.

I'll just that, as a buyer, when I visit shops on any platform, I always look to see how many products a shop has. The more products listed, the more time I'll spend there, because I know there may be some hidden gem in there somewhere.

But when I roll up to a shop and there is no product count, I assume the only offerings are the few items right there in front of me, so I shouldn't bother trying to figure out how to view the rest of the products (that I have no way of knowing about in the first place).

Just my opinion...seems like a silly and useless change to make, and I'd very much like to have that back.

I also would like to see them back! Has anyone else noticed some of their Collections missing? I have added new ones and rearranged the order of some and now they have just disappeared!? Only a few remain...
Posted: Friday, August 30, 2019 3:45:35 AM
Hi Carrie, there is a known issue with collections at the moment and we are working on a fix currently. You can follow the conversation and look for an update here.

If anyone has any further comments regarding collections, we would appreciate it if you could please direct them to the thread linked above. Let's keep this thread on topic.

Thanks everyone! Smile Roses
