My yearly request for better photo editing software
Posted: Sunday, December 15, 2019 7:59:28 PM
Hi Zazzle Team,

Zazzle's photo editing software needs to be updated with a few basic features to allow customers to adjust the photo(s) they upload to a photo template design.

Please consider adding these features:
- Ability to zoom in or out of a photo that is uploaded
- Ability to reposition a pic (up, down, right, left) within the photo template space
- An auto enhance filter to correct a photo's tone, contrast, color

Please check out these features on competitive sites like Shutterfly and Minted.

Thank you,
Kathleen

Of the three requests, this is the truly perplexing one. It used to exist, but when they started changing the design tool, they eliminated the ability. It used to be that the customer could grab the image and move it into a better position, but now, and even if they brave the design tool, they're likely to run into trouble if there's a layer such as a frame surrounding the picture or even a lovely tulip nearby. We used to be able to lock such things, leaving access to the photo beneath. Even we designers struggle with it, having to move the image into the top layer and blindly move it, hoping it's in the right position. How is a customer supposed to know how to do this? If we'd never had the ability, I'd assume it couldn't be done.

I'd add "a way to snap all the elements on a design on the design board in order to adjust as a whole (including graphics, photos & text). This works like being able to use the pointer and pull a square around the design elements or having a button to click that would do the same, with a lock/unlock symbol in corner so the designer can lock it and adjust the whole of the design or unlock and move individual elements." This is a very basic feature for a design program.

The OP wasn't talking about how we might do things. She was speaking of helping the customer who shouldn't be told to get Gimp or whatever.

Thank you, James!

I've had several friends tell me this is the reason they refuse to shop at Zazzle for holiday photo cards. And think of all of the product designs featuring photos that Zazzle offers. It shouldn't be so challenging for a customer to add and center their own photo to a template on a custom order website.

Let's make it easier for customers to perfect and order their custom photo designs. And a simple auto enhance photo feature would probably prevent a lot of returns on products with dark or dull photos.
