I really like that, if a product isn't in a collection, it shows "See on X-Amount of Products" and brings up the Design transfer box if linked it clicked on. I only wish that products the design is already on would show and ones it could be transferred to only appeared upon clicking link. As it is now, products it can be transferred to appear in the panel and that doesn't always look good with different ratios, etc. It would turn me away if I were a customer.

In regard to what James said about changing store/account icons into a photo of yourself...

Yes, it is nice if people can put a face to a store, or business owner.

But... for branding purposes it is best to have the same logo/icon everywhere where your products are visible on the internet. Such as on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, business blog... it is best to have the exact same icon/logo there, so with time your potential customers will start recognizing your 'brand'. If you have your photo attached everywhere you display your products, that's cool of course. Just stick with the same photo/logo/icon where ever you promote your products or 'brand'.

To be clear, we still show your store icon so the branding opportunity won't go away and will still be present. I was recommending you change your account icon, so that there is a more personal touch to the interactions.

Are there penalties for ignoring recommendations? Such as being pushed out of MP, etc? I'm sorry for asking about penalties in my questions (here and in other threads), but they have been known to happen, so I am just wanting to know. Thanks.

First thing I noticed is the 30% discount button covers up the area where the designer icon shows (It went away, so I can not verify) However, the bottom 2-3 lines of the Designer info is definitely covered up.

#2: It is not intuitive that anything will happen when Designer ICON is clicked (I probably wouldn't even have noticed it if I had not seen the announcement and went to look for it.)

#3: Once Designer info is opened, there is no intuitive way to go back to designer. I guessed that clicking on "Layers", "Images", etc. might do the trick and it did.

It looks nice. However, is it necessary? I am not certain that anyone who is eager enough to edit an existing product (not just fill in the templated fields) will not have already seen all of this information on the product page. ??

[Added following to the CHAT FEEDBACK THREAD]
The CHAT feature.
I am assuming the MESSAGE button near the designer ICON (after opening the panel) is what will be used.
If so, it is still leading to the problematice HELP area that automatically goes to HELP DESK and not to designers.

If there is some other APP link, how will those of us not on PHONES be contacted?

No penalties, they are just recommendations based on our understanding of what will create the most desired experience from our customer research.

I understand James Smile But when I promote my account (not a store), for instance by linking my Pinterest account to my Zazzle account, I prefer to have it all the same. That's what I've learned is the best way to do it when it concerns 'branding' and being recognized. Maybe not for others, but it is something that is being suggested by most e-commerce and SEO gurus.

That was my question. I suppose it is my fault for not clearing out the quote before I posted in order to keep such a mistake from happening.

I am glad there will be no penalties as I have no intention on using my picture here.

It's okay Gina, no worries Smile

Plus I think James got a little overwhelmed by everybody posting questions here and everywhere else on the forum where he is trying to respond. I know I would be! Laughing

Yeah he does have quite the burden on his hands at the moment! And it's Friday, too, which makes it much worse!

Agreed.
My thoughts trying to play customer and designer at the same time...

- The "About this design" and "About the designer" text takes up a lot of space, and I don't think I'd scroll much further because I'd assume that it was just rehashing the stuff from the main product page. Especially on mobile.

- Could designers have the opportunity to write an intro specific to the shop? I know many designers have multiple shops - wedding vs. home or even political rants vs unicorns. ha.
I'd love to be able to write a more tailored "Designer Intro" for this display area so it can be both shorter and more relevant to the specific shop that the product came from.
ETA: We have shop taglines already, maybe something similar like "shop designer intro" or something.

- Is it confusing to have both the designer profile AND store logos so close? As a customer, maybe now I'm thinking - am I on Zazzle, this designer's store - or this other store name? Who is who and what is what?
It almost goes a little contrary as trying to connect to a buyer on a personal level because there is a whole lot of "levels" shown in this small space. Maybe only our shop logo could be displayed, along with our (hopefully) custom shortened intro next to the contact button. Short and sweet. So the customer can ask the designer a question instead of sorting out the differences between the shop and designer and commerce shop they are at?

- Also some have opted to "unlink" stores from profiles, and this isn't following that setting.

- Collection listed first, then transfer option, as Gina mentioned, why suggest an auto transfer when many times we've already done it and fixed problems that come up from different proportions, etc.

The short version of the ideas:
Shortened info and more concise "designer/store" references at the top. Meaning one or the other, not both, but because we have the option to unlink/hide stores from our profiles, whatever is displayed in this area should follow what has been selected in our settings.

Followed by

"Other products in the collection" and maybe 3 products and a link like "see more"

Followed by

"Transfer the design to any of our products to complete the set"

And while clicking through all this, I had the idea that maybe we could use a reminder that customers can transfer designs listed on our collections pages? Maybe at the bottom. Or maybe the top. Or maybe randomly interspersed in the collection previews. "If you like a design but want it on a different product, you can use our Transfer feature!"

I can see this as being helpful and interesting for buyers too.

I do wonder about the chat only on mobile though - does that mean that designers will only be able to respond on mobile? Or only get notifications on mobile instead of email?

I'd still want an email for the paper trail - and it's much easier to send new links if we customized a new product, I find that insanely difficult on the phone. And actually try to segment work time so I'm not constantly flipping back and forth computer to phone. It's harder to batch work or keep track of responses when their locations are totally separate.

Yeah, in looking at my own, where I used the crop tool on a design for that particular product, it just looks horrible popping up on other products in that panel. The customer wouldn't know the product they are looking at has a cropped design and so the ones in the panel make it look as if I uploaded a too small, ill fitting design.

Overall I like the idea.

Suggestions.

Functionality: Make it so a second click on the designer button closes the sidebar. It's not hard to figure out how to close it but I just think that would be a nice function.

Branding etc. - I can't adapt the about me text to "fit" all of my stores. One of which I am pushing to be a business all by itself. Would there be a way, say in store settings, to be able to choose if we use only the store icons in this new feature or if we want to use our designer info.

And FYI, I think that somewhere in how to set up a store or some other similar post from Z, that you do not recommend using our "real" names. I never looked into why. But this is an interesting recommended change.

Thats all for now after a real quick stroll through this new feature.

Oh, and for those designers who do not allow customization, the customer never gets the chance to see this new feature. I'm not sure thats fair... Just a thought.

Cheers

I don't allow customization on all things so I am curious as to why you don't think this is fair? And not fair to whom... customers or designers?

regarding the profile pic recommendations,

I have a head shot already and while it is not a big smile I won't be changing it and here is why...

I already use the same avatar at all my online venues that have a profile image. This is an effort I have already made in the direction of my "branding" and so people know it is me wherever they see me.

I am not interested in changing it at every single place that I am using it. Plus I like it.

If the customer can't customize then they can not see this new feature.

If "chat" is only located in this feature, then I guess it's not fair to both.

If a customer really wanted to add something to a design, say a name, that is not customizable, they lose out on the ability to try and chat with you and you loose out on the chance to have that communication and that potential sale.

IDK, maybe I'm wrong ... As I said before, it was just a thought on a quick look at the feature.

It is no different than before this chat was implemented.
The messaging system is still available and, from what I read, is being improved. So I don't think it is a loss to anyone.

I think maybe it’s more of a “metaphorical” smile they are suggesting. I think your profile picture is fun and represents your designs, and still shows that there is a real person behind your brand, which I believe is the spirit of the statement about a big smile.

Hi, my main concern with the "Designer Attribution in the Design Tool" is that it is part of the overall Design Tool...

I am concerned that it might cause errors or delays in the design process. Especially for the customer.

Today, I had 4 times that the design tool had to be closed due to errors (the "Reload" page error). This was on different designs in a one hour period. If I were a customer, I would give up and move on after an error or two.

I would have preferred this new pop out screen (which contains lots of info and things that can be changed constantly, such as collections, profile info, etc.) were not part of the design tool itself.

I am hoping that the chat feature will also not be part of the design tool itself...

Thanks for listening Smile
