So perhaps I missed the question and answer, but I had a considerable number of Keds and back when they were removed, we were told that the designs would be saved for when the new shoes came out.

I see none.

So depressed. I have been trying for days to create the slip ons. no matter what I do, i can't figure it out. Crying

On the slip ons can we at least have the option to change the color of the sides so it matches our pattern? The tiny square at the back looked bad but white clashes with the design I was doing. Maybe I will hold off on slip ons for now.

Hello designers. Here is an update on our recommendations & updates to the product since we published this morning. First off. We're very excited to be offering the product from the fine folks at Delta Custom. They're great people and are very happy to have you designing on their shoes.

I read through the thread today, and wanted to offer some insights for your creativity.

1) The Impact of Size
We encourage you to choose a size before you design. Specifically, 7, 10, and 13 are all sizes where the images most accurately reflects the shoe. (A fun fact around real life shoes, they get longer faster than they get wider.) Because of this, we encourage you to fill the bleed at all times, the entire art view is a good idea. Also, for key elements of your design respect the safe areas.

2) Artview Fixes
We have resolved the missing artviews. Please note that the selectable artview only represents design areas seen in the selected photograph. As a result, you may need to change your view to design an entire shoe.

3) Tongue Visualization
We will be improving some of the shots to accurately reflect all angles of the tongue tonight. Please note your art is there. Good catch that a few of the angles show a small portion of the tongue!

4) Inside vs Outside
We fixed the "inside and outside" confusion. Thanks LM Glidersleeve & colorfulgalshop

5) Alignment Is Not Guaranteed
Making shoes is very complex. You're dealing with Fabric & Sizing. Although everyone involved cares about quality and preserving your art, lining things up will have natural variances, especially as shoe sizes are selected. Like all apparel, we encourage you to work with patterns, prints, and avoid having art from one design area perfectly align with another area.

6) Selling Tops Only
The maker and our team have discussed selling only tops.

7) Slip On Back/Side Design Area
Due to the construction of the shoe, the back of the slip on has a single design area that is limited to the very back. We suggest you try using a "background color fill" to see the limits of that area.

8) Design Area Accuracy
The team makes sure everything is painstakingly accurate. They do a great job. Sometimes we photograph more than one shoe and you can see the differences in construction between two shoes. This is what happened to mailboxdisco's shoes. We'll look at the best way to resolve over the next few weeks, but the reality is both could occur.

Happy designing! We're glad you like having shoes back as a canvas to express your creativity. Thanks for all the feedback.

Kyle

is it possible in regards to the soles and also the non printable areas of the slip on shoes that we can at least have options to choose a block colour other than white for design fluidity? not quite sure i like my patterns with background colours other than white on the slip ons with so much of the shoe completely white..... if i were to design the shoe from scratch i would at least try to make the rest of the shoe complimentary tot he pattern on the printable areas.. which it seems judging by zips own website is something they do woth their own designs.. not asking for more printable areas seen as that appears not possible... but just asking if its possible that they offer some block colour options that they use in their own designs like the messenger bags do with the binding and basic lining colour options.

I have the same question. I have LOADS of Keds designs. Now when I try to use them (on a chance) on the new Zips Hi-tops, they look OK but the size/resolution doesn't work. Now I have to sit down and RESIZE all of my designs to make them work on these new shoes. AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

As if designing wasn't a hard enough job as it is, now I have to do all that work all over again ON TOP of all the other artwork I have to design.

I like the Zips, I really do, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish the Keds were back.

So, any way to get those old designs to work on the new sneakers?

I am not having a problem I keep mirror on it makes it easier. What I do have a problem with is that we don't have a FLIP button just a ROTATE button. So these shoes here

Look at other Pink High Tops at [url=http://www.zazzle.com/pink+printed+shoes?rf=238837219960756438" >zazzle.com[/url]

The stripes are in the front on one side and the back on the other side.

Oh yes a flip horizontal and a flip vertical button would be so useful

I would like to see regular canvas shoes with the ability to print all canvas sections - no zippers, etc. The slip ons only allow for one section to be designed on. The rest of the shoe is white only. Cant even select solid color variations. I miss the Ked shoes.

I don't mind the gimmicky nature of these as much as I do the restrictions in designing them.

I just started designing these. First, the tool is all wonky. I find that you have to randomly click around on the different product views until you luck upon the design area you need or the drop-down selection becomes available. There is no intuitive way to find these design areas.

Second, the printable areas are too restrictive. I see no point in even designing the slip-ons, they look unfinished after we design all of the available areas. These might be ok for customer personalization, put your dog or kid on it, but for designers they are a pretty weak canvas. On the hi-lo tops the toes should be printable.

And last, $12 for tongue printing? That seems like a huge jump for what it is. Tongue printing should just be a default part of the final price. I think upcharges should be kept at a minimum. Some upcharges I would like to see is colored souls and colored shoe strings etc.

Anyway, that is my constructive criticism on these shoes. As a designer who has been patiently waiting for a good shoe replacement I am going to grade these a meh minus.

Looking at zipz website I see the shoes are printed all over. I wonder why they are not offering the same shoes on Zazzle. That seems like it would hurt their brand.

I hope the toe cap is white rubber. I have a few pairs in this style from various brands and they all have white rubber soles and toe caps, none of them zip off though! If the toe cap is canvas then it would look odd I agree, can someone from zazzle let us know? As for the slip ons... I'm just not feeling them!

Ordered a pair for my daughter - simple design request from her. Expected to receive on Monday. I am looking forward to seeing these up close and personal.

I will do what I can with the simplicity of it lol It won't be an all over design... It is an emblem of sorts, signifying the sport she is in and then the rest is just all color that represents her team. But I am sure I will be able to glean much info just by seeing them!

Looking forward to reading this. I've put my new designs on hold as the toe cap could be a deal beaker for me.

I try different like the inside and outside. Also each Shoe differently.
My problem: The customer can not see that!
Because there are always shown in the illustrations only the inside or outside or only 1 Shoe in plan view.
Therefore, I would appreciate it if, in the view of a "top view" would still be added by a "pair".

Thanks alot!

What does it mean when you pick a size, and it comes up with a box "top left" not supported.

I cannot see an issue with it, Do I need to remake my shoes or will they be fine?

Why can't I pick the areas I want to design on the deck shoe ones, it's just load image and guess work where it will show up.

Oh I see LM Gildersleeve, asked on page 2, I'm still confused though at how to fix it.

I cannot see these slip-ons catching on without the ability to design for the sides. They just look super-weird. Disappointing.

I thought so too at first; it took me some time to play around and see what worked. Monograms, standalone designs or symbols (not patterns), designs with a white background, and stripes with a white background all look really good on the slip-ons.

I am only doing the slip-ons. So far, I have only used patterns. I think they have a clean look.
Posted: Tuesday, November 10, 2015 10:00:32 AM
Meh, I've tried both my pattern designs and my simple symbolics without a background on the slip-ons. Wasn't impressed with the results of any of it.

I recently bought a pair of Zipz sneakers and they're great. I was just curious though if a decision was ever made for Zazzle to also be able to just buy the tops?

Thanks in advance.

I was wondering that too, I mean isn't that the point of having them so you can change tops and only need one pair of bottoms? If you get them both every time what makes them any different than other sneakers? I love designing the hi tops and I have even sold 3 pairs but would love to see some repeat sales by maybe having the option to only buy the tops from any existing pair. Like check boxes for upper only or complete pair.

Glad you like them! We currently don't offer that option, but will gladly pass it along for future consideration

Thanks for the reply. That's too bad. I'd probably be my own best customer! Ha ha!

I can't get to these anywhere. Are these sneakers unavailable to Canadian designers?
Posted: Monday, May 01, 2017 7:40:05 AM
I'm working on creating a few of these sneakers using a "repeat" textile design. Something screwy is happening with the "tongue" views.

When I set the image to tile, and specify the design at say... 4" wide, all the parts are the same scale in the viewer. Except when I set the tongue to 4" it looks so much larger, and it appears warped/stretched on the computer generated image of the product.

Should I assume this is just a glitch on the computer generated image and the scale will be per my 4" setting on the tongue when printed?

Its driving me nuts!!! Crying

EDIT: On the Hi-Top its really bad... the viewer is not showing the correct scale on the tongue at all. Its making the design HUGE!! I know the tongue on a Womens 7 is around 6" long so its definitely an issue with the viewer and not my perception of scale. This may explain why I'm seeing so many sellers choosing a solid color on the tongue instead of the print.
