Question about Flip-Flops
Posted: Saturday, March 25, 2017 11:59:02 AM
When designing flip-flops there is the option to add image/text to "Left", "Right" and "Front". I designed a pair using the Left and Right options to make each shoe different so what am I supposed to do with the "Front" which shows both feet together in the design box?

I see that if I don't add an image for "Front" the little square that shows the design next to the product name on the sale page is blank.
If I add an image for "Front" or select a bg color for it, it's that image or color that shows in that little square even though the left and right shoe still appear in the Preview as I designed them independently.

So I don't understand how the "Front" option affects the end design of the shoes? It seems the "Front" image is NOT affecting the end design of the shoes but it's necessary to have one if you don't want that little square to be blank? I just want to verify what's going on here before I post a pair for sale and have them not come out as expected because of this "Front" image.

Hi, You can safely leave that part blank. I have used it before when I want to spread the entire design across both shoes... but I have also designed like you just described and left the front blank. Just check the warning that you meant to leave that part blank. If you want to spread a design across both shoes and then add a monogram to each shoe then you would use all three. I hope that makes sense and helps.

Thankyou. This is a screenshot of another item (the flip-flops aren't showing yet on my public storefront) that shows the little square image I was talking about. If no image is added for "Front" you just get a blank square there and that bugs me.

So I did go back and add an image to "Front" and from what I saw in edit mode and again in the preview images after publishing, it did not effect the design of the shoes, they show with the Left and Right designs I made. In other words, the Front image did not cover up the individual Left and Right images. My concern is that even though they appear correctly when viewing the product they'll get printed with the Front image instead. Maybe a Zazzle rep will happen along and explain this or move it to the Technical Issues forum if better suited there.

I did not know about that little detail with this new design tool. I haven't made any flip flops that used the left and right areas since the tool change. So I also hope a mod can explain that part. the old tool didn't do that.

Did anyone get an answer to this one? Even though that was back in 2017, with Zazzle reintroducing with the new manufacturer, this appears to still be set up in the design tool the same way - i.e confusing directions with a front, a left and a right. If you want to design a template that maintains your text for your website, it's unclear if it will print twice - once for the "front" product and once for the left or right shoe. Weird.
Thanks!

Its either "left & right" or "Front". If you design on front, its like designing them as one. But after this, if you use left or right, it will design on top of this. So, just use Front or left and right. Grin
