File display in image library changed - workaround to add images from library to forum?
Posted: Friday, November 01, 2019 1:39:21 AM
The right-click and copy-pasting the image address from the image library thumbs to forum posts doesn't work anymore. Had to take an inconvenient detour in my last post. Anyone encountered the same issue and found a fast-and-easy workaround idea my encumbered and lazy brain doesn't see yet? No external links, from the image library on zazzle, that's the most convenient way IMO.

Thanks for any hint Roses

Not exactly the same issue, but perhaps related? For a few days, perhaps a week, I have not been able to open images (by clicking the i-circle) in the image library. Can you do that? Perhaps your problem is already solved?

If you click the "i" and then right-click the image, you'll find the menu you need. It's a longer path to get to what used to be on the first right-click menu. Is it a Zazzle thing or a browser thing?

Doesn't work, even via the detail screen you don't get the image saving/copying/address menu. It's a HTML scripting thing, you can show images in different ways. When you depict the image regularly as image, you can right click on it and copy/save the image. With other methods, e.g. using the image as a background image within a html container, if you right click on it, the html right click menu appears instead of the image menu.

I had to use the workaround through the media elements popup in FF, where I could see the image address and paste it in my post.

I have no issues, clicking on the info icon the popup with the details opens as usual. Mine is not really a tech issue, the developers changed the image displaying method in their website script, so the right click doesn't show the image handling menu anymore (where it says copy image, save as etc).

Colorwash and PetsDreamland: Thanks for the discussion Smile And I see what you mean, PetsDreamland.

My problem, on the other hand, seems to be related to Firefox and clones. When using Chrome, things worked just as normal, that is I could open images in the image library by clicking on the "i" picture. I guess this is really a tech issue..

It's a background image and as such no longer an element in the site to right click and download. Plugins help, that extract images from the site regardless whether it is delivered by CSS or HTML. Or use examine element and copy the image url from that window.

Sorry, no. Forum doesn't accept the image url.

You're right. I tried and couldn't grab the image for posting regardless of where I went, not even into the code behind the image.

I checked on other sites and discovered it must indeed have been something Zazzle did on purpose because, elsewhere, I still get the full complement of right-click choices.

I wonder why they did this? I can see disabling such things in the marketplace, but doing it in the back end where none of us has access to anyone else's image folders?

You can still do it as long as you know what to put in and what to take out.

Bring up the image you want to insert in your post. Click the 'i' and then right-click the image and choose "View Background Image." Right-click again and choose "Copy Image Location."

For a simple heart image I happen to have, this is the code I get:
https://www.zazzle.com/rlv/svc/getimage?id=b0f29874-1164-495b-a54f-148cbcaa7bd0&max_dim=450&bg_pattern=checker (I changed the numbers even though it's a simple heart just in case there's some way for outsiders to find their way to our albums.)

https://rlv.zazzle.com/svc/getimage?id=b0f29874-1164-495b-a54f-148cbcaa7bd0&max_dim=450&bg_pattern=checker

Note what I highlighted in red, and also note that I removed '/rlv' just after the zazzle address.

Here's the heart image:

The inability to post images really ticked me off, and I was determined to figure it out, which I did by looking at the way the image URL used to be set up. I'm sometimes like a dog gnawing on a bone. :-)

I just realized there was no point in changing the numbers the way I did, thinking I'd be safe. Right-click my heart and you'll see why it was a waste of time.
