Converting to Vector

Anyone know of a free or really cheap program that will convert picture files into vectors ??
I've got WinTopoFree, but not having any luck with it.
Thanks in advance Grin

Consider Affinity Photo. It is an app in the iTunes store and for sale at around $40.

I works well and from the comments section gets high marks.

Too some time to learn it but their support materials are very good and I've gotten quick answered from support as well.

I've tried many of the free options and found them all lacking even for my limited needs.

A quick google using the term "Online Image Vectorizer" finds many free online tools that apparently converts raster picture files (.png/jpg) into svgs (scalable vector graphics)

- - haven't used any of them so can't say whether it will do what you need.

Am pretty sure that Affinity Photo is not what you're looking for in this occasion as I'm pretty sure that it doesn't convert raster files to vectors. Can recommend Affinity Designer for straight up vector designing though (without the cost of a subscription)

Keep in mind that you cannot simply save a raster file in a vector format and have it be scalable. The image will have to be traced or redrawn in a vector graphics program for that to be possible. There are programs that do this, but they will only work well with images that are relatively simple and clean in the first place. You wouldn't be able to say, put a photograph in and get a scalable image that looks like the original out.

For the very simple images like silhouettes etc. I use this site:

https://image.online-convert.com/convert-to-svg

It is the one online site that seems to provide the best rendering of an SVG that can be used in all my graphic programs. Most of the other sites loose a lot of detail when converting (redrawing).
