600 ppi was recommended for these; just making sure that's not a typo. If not, it amounts to making all new designs for me, which is a disincentive. (sorry) "Unique all-over prints" are mentioned in the design recommendations. Probably not advisable to go changing the ppi on an existing raster image in an effort to 'make it work', right?
Still, cool looking product.

Still, cool looking product. If you image is big enough (pixel count high enough) the ppi shouldn't be a problem, zazzle can use the best ppi number possible. I was under the impression, that the printer chooses the ppi value best suitable for the material. After all we have different ppi with several products and I don't see much of it mentioned in the forum, that this is a pain in the neck as to creating ppi variations.

I searched and found that dye sublimation can be happy with 300dpi, but also with higher resolutions. Is the printer being used perhaps a really high-end one and prints best at 600dpi?

I must be doing something wrong, but I can't get my repeat pattern to fill the entire print area. I tested it on each layer and it shows the pattern filled in on the design area, but not on the tumbler. I tried using a background color and the same thing is happening.

I think the 'entire print area' is just the center of the tumbler. Disappointing, I know. Not a top product, and yet pretty pricey

Did you try the wrapping option in the layers? I haven't tried it yet but I saw "auto warping wrap" and "manual warping wrap". Gonna try it to see what happens...

Remembering the difference between ppi and dpi, I think I will need to increase my ppi for I have it set at 300ppi in photoshop and illustrator(and other art aps I use). James, Just to be sure... you do mean ppi as referenced on the in the new product description page? Here's a great explanation of the difference between the two. https://www.shutterstock.com/blog/ppi-vs-dpi-resolution-guide

It still isn't all over print but it does wrap all the way around.

Wrap Background is the very last choice on the layers tab. It wraps all way 'round as Shelly said.

I've been looking for something like this in the stores for my mom. She's very shaky, so the built-in straw in extremely helpful. Just looking at Walmart, etc, they were mostly around $15 so I didn't buy one. If I can design her one though, I'm willing to pay this price although it is high. Just wish it was a top-to-bottom designable space.

OK, this caught me by surprise. If you choose the wrap option, the seam is on the side, not the back. Therefore, your center is on the other side.

I think the seam is on the side either way you design so that you can add an image to both the front and back without the seam distorting the back of an image or text.

northwestphotos wrote:What about photo image jpgs? Are they okay to use? Why not? The printing process is ink jet on a smooth surface. You want to use any of the auto warp for best results unless you warped the photo yourself in Photoshop or any such program to accommodate the cone shape.

The object is round without a handle and the straw in the center of the lit. There is no side or rather all is side depending how you rotate.

Thank you ArtAttic and Shelli Fitzpatrick! I thought the full-bleed printing extended to the top and bottom of the tumbler.

Here's what they recommend in new product announcement: "Print Process: These acrylic tumblers are printed using a technique known as dye-sublimation. (If you’re not familiar with dye-sublimation, here’s a great video explaining the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kg61TP0jLE) To get the most vibrant print on your tumblers, we recommend designing with a resolution set at 600 ppi and uploading a PNG/PDF as your file format."

Anyone know why it takes so long for the majority of designs in a new product line so long to hit the MP? It's Tuesday morning, and only a little over 300 of the new acrylic tumblers are in the MP; seems like we get a dozen or so that dribble in each day. I created a dozen or so on Friday that aren't showing yet.
I've noticed this with other new product lines; sometimes it takes almost a week.

Current count is 1364Follow the breadcrump of your tumbler and selcct acrylic to see all acrylic tumbler on the marketplace. If you enter acrylic tumbler in the search you'll only find those where the designer entered acrylic tumbler in the title or tags themselves instead of having zazzles autofill do this part.

This and a response in another thread saying if we want thermal to bring up our thermal tumblers we should add it as a tag is making me question the wisdom of not adding the product type to our tags. I may have to rethink this!

I may have to rethink this! It is somewhat annoying granted. Adding the product type yourself to appear in the search is problematic in several ways. When zazzle adds it the product type can have additional functionality. When we add it you never know if we refer to the design subject or the product type and call me crazy, but I want to be able to search for designs with top hat without getting overwhelmed with trucker hats without a top hat in the design,

I have a question about the colors of the new tumblers. Is the blue color in reality lighter than the blue color that is shown in the color choices? When looking at the final product view, the blue lid and straw appear to be quite a bit of a lighter shade of blue. I notice that the green is also much lighter in the preview. Can someone at Zazzle verify this for us? This would help us out when trying to match up blue colors in our designs. Thanks!

The maker actually takes 1,200 PPI, the minimum is 72, but we recommend 600. You can choose to ignore it if you want, up to you.

I wouldn't use 72, that is your monitor resolution and that's what the Chinese pirates have. Not good enough. Though I highly doubt if there is a large population, who actually will notice the difference between 300, 600 and 1200 ppi even when they are right next to each other. It is pretty much the phenomenon you get, when people buy they big screen TV and brag about the high resolution but wear glasses and see 20/20 in a very narrow visual field and what they actually praise is the color manipulation that usually comes with these big screen TVs. Since I wear glasses these days I would have to optimize the distance to really appreciate the higher resolution and when on this world do I keep the optimized distance to my drinking cup at all times.

Will white be transparent or have the white under layer? My eagle and flag designs and a few others really need white

tjustleft wrote:Will white be transparent or have the white under layer? My eagle and flag designs and a few others really need white Only fabric prints white as transparent when the item color itself isn't. So I assume they print white since the tumbler isn't white but transparent and more importantly, the preview shows white as white and that is rarely wrong.
