Just in the past week, there seem's to be an issue when trying to get zsb to connect and initiate using keywords/search words.

It works probably every 3 out of 10 attempts. Not good because im not to familiar with too many customers that will continuously hit refresh to look for an item to purchase.

Anyone else having this issue or has anyone at zazzle made some changes lately that affect these issue's?

Hi FishTs, I just responded to you on memakemonster's thread. But just in case other people only see this thread, I did want to respond here as well. Yes, absolutely I've been having this problem. I noticed it at the end of last week, and subsequently filed a bug report on it.

It's definitely a random type of problem for me, and seems to be getting worse. I'll be able to get it to work a couple of times in a row, and then it will "stick", not return any results and finally seems to time out and give the feed error message. One it's "stuck", I can't get it to work again for several minutes. So even if my customers felt like hanging around and hitting refresh, they'd have to do it for several minutes before they saw any results! (Not likely to happen...)

Most of my pages have six of my own designs featured at the top, drawn from my own stores. Those feeds are working great. Then at the bottom of the page is a marketplace feed based on a related keyword. It's that keyword driven marketplace feed that's sticking, and as long as it's stuck it keeps the rest of the page from loading as well. Ugh.

Its been happening about 8-10 days now. Ive got several very large sites that I utilize just for making referrals with pulling thousands and thousands of products, and its not good when they go on the blitz.

Got a request in for help, will let anyone know if they respond back on it.

I've been having the same problem for the same amount of time as FishTs. It's totally random as far as I can tell. I haven't changed anything within that time frame. Annoying to say the least.

Also, just for kicks I uploaded one of the sample pages that comes with ZSB: the one with multiple feeds on the same page. Totally not working. It definitely worked before so there definitely is something up with the API.

Ok, ive created 3 sites for testing with, one with strait out of the box zsb, one customized, and one intergrated into html pages, all so I can verify its not just a setup issue, but a feed issue.

Same result, the only ones running into error's are zsb setups utilizing keywords. Wether it be from the configuration file or utilizing a GET command from an html or php page. Anytime trying to pull for a specific keyword gets the dreaded "error-products temporarily unavailable" message around 80-85% of the time.(not the search feature using a search box and not pulling directly from store names or categories within a store, only when using the "keyword" feature)

My first trackable errors showed up regularly on 10/19/09, but appears to have started not as frequently as early as 09/28/09. Recently its more than 80% downtime in any given 24 hour period for approximately the last 3 days.

This is really not good for people using zsb primarily as an affiliate tool. Ive got 13 people running zsb as an affiliate promoting my products and its not a good thing if its not working most of the time. Kind of defeats the purpose of being an affiliate.

Can we get some zazzle feedback on this issue, ability to duplicate the error, being looked into, anything etc...

Thanks
Bill H.

Thanks for doing more legwork, FishTs! It really would be nice to hear back Zazzle on all this. When I reported it as a bug, they responded with the ol' clear-your-cache response. I was ultimately able to get them to believe that it wasn't me or my cache, and was told that it would be forwarded on to tech support, who would in turn contact me. I haven't been contacted. That just gives me so much hope, of course.

FishTs, what are you using to track the errors your visitors encounter? My current best way to find errors is to run into them myself, which is likely not the best approach.

Ive got my own tracking and error reporting software that was made for a client of mine a few years back. Just tweak it a little to get it to work for each site I build.

Another issue caused by this same problem,
If you build your sites inline, meaning each section waits on the previous section to load before the following parts load, then the remaining parts of a page will not load at all if the feed doesnt load.

So you end up with an entirely broke website, not just a broke feed.

Now sitting at about a 90% failure rate for feeds to populate when using keywords.

Has anyone heard any feedback of any type about this. Ive got dozens of sites pretty much down over this issue.

Hi folks,

We thank you for your feedback and are aware of the problem. We're trying to track where the issue is occuring and will hopefully have a fix soon. I have some ZSB sites as well and also notice intermittent feed issues. Hang in there as we figure this one out.

Thanks!

Thanks a ton. Its nice to be able to show people that some of us arent just doing something wrong or trying to rip them off. At least this way we can assure them its an actual problem.

Im sure yall will find it, ya always do.

I REALLY hope this gets sorted out soon because my ZSB marketplace store is a mess; i.e., pages won't load and/or links are dead. Everything worked beautifully until very recently and I haven't touched the code. Also, my ISP says everything is fine on their end, so there MUST be an API problem in some way related to keywords. PLEASE, PLEASE rectify this soon Zazzle -- it's shopping season and I don't want to miss it and neither do you!

We're getting there, folks. We have engineers working on this as we speak, and we hope to have a fix up fairly soon (a few days, hopefully). Let's be patient as they figure this one out. I'll post here when I hear more. Thanks!

Ok folks, the fix is live. Can you check your sites and report back if there are any problems still? The sites I checked all seem to be working again.

Thanks, and thank you all for your patience!

Seems like you got my other issue fixed too, with the loading times for that extra page thing.

Thanks a ton to the whole crew.....
