I posted a few things to twitter from my store and the links don't go to the set-up with the clean or small Zazzle bar at top. Can this be controlled and I am not finding it or can Z think about changing this feature.

That's interesting, since the Twitter link is supposed to include the RF code, and I'm sure I read that links with the RF code activate the zbar. Does that mean the zbar isn't working - or that the referral code isn't? Patricia PR Prints

I'm still curious about this. Anyone know if the shortened address in Twitter is why the zbar doesn't work? Does the referral still come through? Anyone have any referrals they're sure came from Twitter?

Thanks ematson. I'm sure a lot of us are hoping the referral codes still work from the Twitter links.
Thanks,

Not working for me. Link is : https://twitter.com/marvelousstudioIt goes to a generic Zazzle white page, with no shop info except t-shirt by marvelous by the title, so basic Zazzle page.

BTW. When I added to Twit, I was logged in and went to my main store, then the product I wanted to Twit.
Maybe others can post their link here to see if it works.

Hi, I realized today that the Zazzle star doesn't work on Twitter. I typed my address with the star, and even put the "/" at the end, which someone said helps keep it from being stripped off - but the link showed up with the address underlined only to the end of the storename, and sure enough the address showing up for that link does NOT have the star in it. So, I presume, just typing my store with the * does NOT get me referrals (haven't tried the full RF code yet). I'm having serious doubts about whether the referral codes are working on products either, now. ematson, did you find out anything after? Is there a way to fix this? We're trying hard to promote on Twitter, and it's a shame if we're not getting any referral credit. Anyone know if someone enters Zazzle through my store, do I get any referral credit, even if the "*" isn't used? Realllllly hoping we can get this fixed! Thanks, Patricia PR Prints

I'm confused. I haven't gotten any referrals from Twitter, but according to Google Analytics, no traffic from there either.
My links from Twitter are just plain links also, no star.
How can you tell if people are coming to your store thru Twitter? My traffic has picked up since I began tweeting.

Funny, this thread *was* in feedback - which it was. Something isn't working right. (Although the problem may be with Twitter more so than Zazzle.) It got moved to "tools."
I haven't checked analytics, but I know I did see more views on some items I tweeted just after I tweeted them. No sales, yet, but I'm suspecting that Twitter is stripping off referral codes. Not good for anyone using Twitter to promote their products - or trying to help out others in return for referrals.
A sale is a sale, but I'd like to get the referral too if I brought the sale in. Not sure if there's a way to work around that, but it definitely doesn't seem to be working right.

is it possible that it requires more than just the rf code? Perhaps it needs the gl=storename as well as items directly linked don't say the store name in the URL and therefore wouldn't load in a specific store's layout. AbernathyDuck

That's interesting. I never noticed that the store name wasn't in the Twitter link. It is included in the "Link" html link. But the Twitter link does include the RF code, so you would think that should work.
But that's something else for ematson to confirm - should the GL code be included in the Twitter link?
The links I send with Twitter do take someone to the product page with my colours/formatting, etc., just as I would expect. However, the zbar isn't active, and I'm suspecting the referral code is stripped out, which means we don't get the credit. I just tested an old link to one of my products from Twitter, and the shortcut code comes up, then transfers directly to the product URL - no RF code.
I REALLY hope there's a way to get that fixed. But I don't know if Zazzle can work around it if it's a Twitter policy to strip out referral codes.
Any news for us, ematson?

Really dumb question while reading this. What is the shortened twitter link folks are referring to? I've just been pointing folks to our domain name and having the regular referrel link to Z from there, because the regular referrel would just be too long for twitter?

Jeff When you type a URL into Twitter (or use the Zazzle tool), Twitter will automatically replace it with something that looks like "www.KQRZK.to" (not on Twitter right now, so I can't come up with an actual example) that redirects to the URL you typed - to save characters. However, in the few tests I've done, it seems that any referral characters (whether it be the code or just the "*") are stripped out, which means no referral credit if someone enters your store or product page from Twitter. That's evidenced by the fact that the zbar does not appear (which it does if someone uses a referral link) and the fact that the redirect address goes straight to the product or store address without even blinking the address including the referral code. Having Twitter point to your domain is a great idea. That way you're not going to lose the referral since people click on the referral link from outside of Twitter. Unfortunately, I'm relying on Zazzle alone for hosting, not to mention the convenience of using the Twitter link on the product page, so I'm losing the referral credit. And a great many more Zazzlers who use Twitter regularly to promote are, too. The big hope is that it would result in sales, but we're losing 15% in referrals - and that takes away the financial incentive to help support and promote each other on Twitter, which will deter some people. I'm still hoping to hear if there's a fix possible or if it's a Twitter policy. Patricia PR Prints

I think I found a way around the issue of Twitter stripping out referral codes, so I thought I'd share. If you get your link code (including referral #, or at least the *), then use www.tinyurl.com to generate a shortened URL and tweet THAT (instead of using the Twitter link from Zazzle), you do get the zbar, so I'm *hoping* that also means you get the referral. Now, If I could only ever make a sale that I could track back to Twitter, I could find out for sure. (Any magic fairies listening?) lol Patricia PR Prints

I wish someone from Zazzle would weigh in on this discussion and let us know for certain whether it "works" or not or at least some speculation on the topic. I'd like to know for sure if my efforts are wasted or not. :-/ Thanks again for sharing Lori EDIT: I just tried this but didn't get the minimized Zazzle bar :-/ Can anyone from Zazzle let us know if our "tweeting" actually earns us referrals?

That's strange. It works for me, even if I'm logged in in another window. (And I've tried when I'm logged out, too.) While typing this I just clicked on a tinyurl link I tweeted earlier tonight to my 80's mousepad, and I got the zbar. You can find the link on my profile at www.twitter.com/prprints. Try it and see if you get the zbar from that link. If not, could you let me know? I usually try to use the referral code in the link, not just the *, so I don't know if that makes a difference. What code did you paste into tinyurl? Patricia PR Prints

The link that I originally created did not do that for me but I created one just now and it DID work (showing the small zBar). So, a HUGE thank you for this information but I'd still like to know (from Zazzle) if it makes a difference when tweeting. ~ Lori
