does anyone have a good suggestion for making a video? I have the program that comes with windows. I have images of my products with transparent backgrounds, but they import with black backgrounds.
I know how to make an animation in Animation Pro that comes with PSP, but that's not really the same thing, plus it takes up a huge amount of memory trying to optimize and save it.
So... what I am looking for is a program - free or at least free to try - where I can put in my own backgrounds and use transparent images to create a product video.
Thanks Kerry

That windows program is pretty easy to use. You need to be able to create transparent GIF images. PSP should be able to allow to export a transparent gif that should be able to be imported to the Windows Movie maker unless it does not handle transparent gifs well.

Sorry, I can't be of any help. I work on a Mac and know very little about any of the Windows programs. Heck, I know very little about the program (imovie) I used to create my video—just enough to be dangerous, but I'm learning!

I would probably grab a free trial of Adobe Flash but that may be more complex than you need. Free Movie Maker AlternativesFree Alternatives to Movie MakerAnother AlternativedumdedumGood luck.

I have several movie makers however I mainly do slideshows for customers. I haven't seen one that allows transparent backgrounds. This should be an interesting thread. Boom! Boom! Boom!

I just used JPGs when I made my video in Movie Maker. No transparency, obviously, but... why do you need it? You're going to try something tricky, aren't you!?!

I want to create a product video to post on youtube, spynby etc etc. But I wanted to have the images against a particular background. For instance, I wanted my maternity shirts to all have a baby background behind them, but still utilize the effect tools without altering the background. Does that makes sense? hmmm..... ok - so imagine you have a picture of a maternity shirt and it's against a pale lavender background with tiny white spots. You want the shirt itself to move, say slide out of the frame, but you don't want the background to move or be altered at all. does that make more sense? I'll check out those links - thanks!

http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudioFree trial, supports png tranparency. Says windows vista, however works fine on my XP system. I liked it enough to purchase it, does allot of advanced editing including green screen and P-I-P among others. There are great video tutorials on youtube ect on how to work with different fucntions. What you would do to achieve what I "think" your asking about. It would need to be in png format, place your image on a track, place your bg image on a seperate track, using a method similiar to layering in graphics editing, as far as what image is on top ect. Drag out your timeline as far as you need to. You would use the event/pan/crop function to move your transparent image however you wanted to in your frame. It comes with many transisition effects and one could very well do what your talking about with minimal tweaking. You could do this with any supported media type, including avi, mpeg, wmv ect. I would stay away from gif format though, I believe most video editing programs are not set-up to work with it.
