Hi all,

I'm new to this whole squidoo thing, but am starting out with a steampunk christmas lens.

I haven't finished or published it yet, but would love to hear from those of you that have 'steampunk' style products in your shop.

Show me what you have and I will try and add it in......once I figure out how this whole squidoo thing works of course Stick out tongue

Thanks in advance

Lee

ETA: Finished it now...find link above.

It's a play on Cyberpunk. Think Alternative sci-fi meets the 19th century.
The movie "Brazil" might be a good example as far as the technology goes.
Imagine designs with properly dressed romantic-era men in welding goggles making steam-driven heart shaped engines for some insanely complex flying machine.

I Answered that one perfectly! NOT...

KLAATUWI,
I love your store. I am wondering if your drawing was influenced growing up on Berke Brethed. He is a comic hero of mine. Great stuff!

I have a few steampunk inspired items (not too sure what hardcore steampunk fans would think of them), sadly none have anything to do with Christmas:
steampunk gifts
By the way Softproduct, I thought your explanation was quite good! Happy

DizzyDebbie,
This, taken from wikpedia may, help.
Steampunk is a sub-genre of fantasy and speculative fiction that came into prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s. The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England—but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date. Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" of such technology as dirigibles, analog computers, or digital mechanical computers (such as Charles Babbage's Analytical engine); these frequently are presented in an idealized light, or with a presumption of functionality.

Steampunk is often associated with cyberpunk and shares a similar fanbase and theme of rebellion, but developed as a separate movement (though both have considerable influence on each other). Apart from time period and level of technological development, the main difference between cyberpunk and steampunk is that steampunk settings usually tend to be less obviously dystopian than cyberpunk, or lack dystopian elements entirely.

Various modern utilitarian objects have been modded by individual artisans into a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style, and a number of visual and musical artists have been described as steampunk.

I've seen Steampunk artists "punk" their computers using typewriter keys on the keyboard, lots of brass elements and wood casing for the monitor, not to mention lots filigree flare.

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't visited here in a bit. I've been trying to sort out this squidoo thing. It's really annoying that you cant have more than 9 links to the same domain without using the modules there....meh...anyway...I did my best on my first ever lens. And I hope I have been able to include those that asked to be.

Thanks for the clarifications guys, I ended up using the wikipedia description as well. It was clear and concise in my opinion.

Anyway, here is the link:

Bleh...that kind of did my head in....I dont know how people do so many of those without going bonkers Stick out tongue

But feel free to add your links to the lens or comment or whatevs.

I was gonna say I have a little steampunk store SteamPunk Tees, but I see you've already found it lol! Thanks for joining my fanclub kasei_lee Roses

Just so you know, it was a project that I started back in july, but it got put waaaaay back on the backburner in favour of halloween, website revamp, christmas and other stuff. It only has 3 designs lolLaughing but the really funny thing is the products are selling every month, tees, bags, posters and even a tie to an Italian (who am I to argue with Italians over dress sense!??!!!)Laughing Laughing Laughing

So now you've inspired me to have another stab at adding some more designs, I'll see what I can do over the coming weeks. Smile

Nice lens.

Didn't know what a steampunk was until I read the lens.

I don't have any products but have commented and rated the lens.

Good luck with it.
