I am new to Zazzle, never even heard about it until a few days ago.
I currently have about 10 shoes made, most with my own designs that I drew or pictures I have taken and right now those products have my name on them.
[all the shoes have my name, first and last, on the heel]
Is is a good thing or a bad thing to put my name on my shoes. I want other people to buy them but I also want the people who see my products in real life to know who the maker was.
I think it shouldn't be a problem because lots of clothes have the brand name on them, but I wanted to get some feedback from people who have been at this longer than I have.
Will it hurt my sales at all? Do people generally not by products on Zazzle that have the creators name on them?
Thanks!

Years ago, long before the internet, T-shirt shops all did the iron on thing. Buy a shirt, pick out your design and they do it right there. (yes I'm that old.)
Anyway, I had quite a few with "roach" on them. Don't know who that was but who ever it was, there were a ton of designs with that name on it somewhere.
I do wish it were any other name, but it never stopped me from buying.
Just my opinion.

I probably wouldn't buy shoes with someones name on them, unless of course they were a 'designer' brand. My thought is if someone admires them they'll ask the wearer where they found them, hopefully they'll give them your name.

Just some thoughts here - I also sell vintage collectibles, china, glass, and pottery. To have a "signature" on something makes it more valuable-even though it may not be highly recognized. I don't know how that works in the present for the artist/manufacturer - but if one of your Zazzle items makes it to 20+ years old to be considered "vintage" it'll have more value Personally, if it is something that is original work by someone, I think a "signature" of some sort is appropriate to distinguish it from the clip art/images from the internet/unoriginal stuff out there/mass produced stuff. I think people would value an original labeled piece, even if it's just a mousepad. Just my thoughts

I think I am going to take some time to think this over. I'm starting to question now if I really want to sell my designs or not.
Thanks for the feedback, I'm taking everything everyone said into consideration.

Think about this for a minute, when you go to a brick and mortar store and buy any clothing, aren't you buying someone else's name? Especially the expensive brand names.
Just a thought.

For a long time, I sold my photographs without my signature on them. I felt it got in the way of the image. But I kept getting folks asking me to sign the print, which was always difficult to do once it is printed, and I still didn't feel comfortable doing it. Now, however, I sign each image in Photoshop before it's is printed. I put the sig in one corner and try to keep it unobtrusive. I have been doing the same with all my images here on Zazzle. I want my customers to feel they're getting a unique piece of art, even though it's on a mug or mousepad or whatever. Of course, I've just started here and have yet to sell anything, so take this for what it's worth.

You haven't been around a lot of teenagers lately, have you? lol Saw someone last week with large panties with flowers pulled about 4 inches above her pants. (The pants weren't even low-slung - the underwear was pulled *up*.) I can't see how they think that looks good. As for the name, as long as it's unobtrusive and well integrated into the design or in a small corner, I think it could add to the design. I wouldn't make it stand out, though, at least not until your name was the reason people were buying the product. Patricia PR Prints
