hey guys
i saw ppl working at cafepress.com and artsnow , i did open up a shop at each of these sites but i was so confuzzed , very difficult to figure out stuff, i think comparatively zazzle is user friendly and very comfortable to work with , plus quiet homey feeling
what da ya guys think?

I like both for different reasons...even though I'm fairly new here, I do feel that it takes much more work over at Cafepress to be successful (I've been here less than 2 months and have already made over $100). Also, you can actually say the names of Zazzle's competitors on these forums without it being filtered out, so that rocks.

(seriously, how insecure do you have to be to not allow your patrons to even SAY THE NAME of your competitors?)Laughing

I agree..I have tried others..but the people here are so much nicer. The site is easier to use and if you have trouble everyone is willing to pitch in and help sort you out. All in all...I much prefer Zazzle to everywhere else..this is home Smile

I do like both...each carries a few products that the other doesn't. I make most of my money on CafePress but I do like the fact that Zazzle has things like ties, key chains and some other things CafePress doesn't have at this time. CP is time consuming but I do know that system pretty well and am getting used to working on Zazzle. I definitely like that I can put an image on lots of things all at once on CP and can't do it that way here. I'm still learning my way. But I do like both and will keep shops in both. Smile

I had stores on CP ... but only because I liked some of the products they have zazzle doesn't ... but I hate CPs set up .. yep you can make multiple products in one go .. but you have to usually go back to each to alter it to get them just right so takes about as much time anyway ... I hated having my stores with all the different types of apparel they offer with the same design on .. here its much more sophisticated .. and the fact here has the ability to make templates .. I LOVE TEMPLATES .. Love ... and all of the CP staff I've had any contact with have been so stuck up their own Angry it was pointless contacting them .. here its totally different .. quality is better here too Grin

Laughing .. I know .. its funny .. but zazzle must have them worried big time Laughing

as for artsnow .. their products are tatty ... I had two stores there .. ordered a few products to test the quality and shut my stores after that ... great idea for products but cheap tat .. if they had got better quality products they might be better .. but I wouldn't use them now anyway

I have one store left at CafePress - only because it makes good money though. Never felt "at home" there, and the forum is too much of a clique.

I have 11 stores at printfection - they are free, they make good money, the place is friendly, the staff is just as great as they are here and I love it there. (And they don´t throw you out if you mention competitors either Smile )

I came here because we have a lot of art that doesn´t go on tees (my pet hate is square stuff on t-shirts Happy ), and printfection is a place for 95% apparel. So here I do my thing mostly with cards and posters - I´ve only sold one card, but I´m used to my 5 minute slap dash designs selling way better than paintings that took several weeks to finish (one reason I ended up designing t-shirts Grin ).

I like this place - friendly people that welcome noobs and make them feel at home, easy to use and customizable galleries. So if I started making the same money I make at PF I´d have to split first place in the ratings. ATM Zazzle is a very close second to PF Love

it's good to know someone makes money at PF. I've hardly sold a thing. The one t-shirt I bought from there - the colors were really off. They were so much darker than they should be - and I had another shirt with the same design I'd bought for my mom from here - so I knew it wasn't my design. I couldn't even bring myself to wear the PF one. But - that was just one shirt with one design - so I'm not saying they can't be good too. And while they customer service person I got was at first unwilling to allow it was their printing, when I sent a picture of the 2 shirts he did apologize and gave me a refund. So- I give him credit for that. Besides, their still fairly new and it's to be expected that there are some bugs to work out.

As for CP - I never use their forums. They seem so quick to jump on people for posting in the wrong spot or not finding the answer in a post burried 10 pages back etc.

I like Zazzle's design tools SO much better than any place else. None of the others offer the background colors and text and the sizing, moving tools that are so good. Yes, you can size and move at PF - but I don't find they work as well.

I agree with DT - I always have to go back in at CP and fix items. I'm often frustrated that I'd like to move an image on a button or magnet up a touch, but hate that in order to do that I'd have to alter my original image and upload it again. I don't know why they don't have better tools. Seems ridiculous that a company that big is so behind with their design tools. Plus - even though we pay for shops there- they've just limited how many categories/sections we can have.

Here it's free and there are no limits.

I'll agree with that. It's not that I don't understand why they limited sections, I get the reason...but this has caused them to really push the whole "just keep opening up more premium shops" thing, and then they all but mock people who complain about it, saying that $60 a year is nothing and we shouldn't be whining about it. They always have the same comeback: "Where else can you start up a business with such a minimal cost?" Finally I couldn't keep my mouth shut anymore, I said "Well, lots of places. One of them starts with a Z, another starts with a P, etc".

Yeah, my comment got moderated after I said that.

So not only can you not say the NAME of their competitors, you can even use the first LETTER of the names of the competitors!Laughing

i'm new here (kind of) and i'm having the same questions. at cafepress, i sloppily marked everything up by $7 and felt a load of guilt when people started buying tiny buttons and stickers for over $10, so i lowered the cheap stuff and kept everything at $7 and i get paid consistently well every month without ever advertising anywhere.

that said, i like zazzle tons better than cafepress. it's a friendly group and more creative (in my opinion). it's a succinct presentation - there aren't pages and pages of products with the same design. i just think it's more practical and way cooler. the products choices are excellent also.

the problem i'm having is that i don't know if i can make the money here that i make there. i haven't even checked my CP site in days. i make no changes or updates but my sales are consistent. i'd be willing to invest my time building up my zazzle gallery/products if i thought i could make some money here, but i don't know how i can if i'm only getting $3 or $4 per shirt. i haven't seen any big markups here at zazzle, but i wish someone will convince me to put my efforts here because i like zazzle so much better!

Hey, a fellow Cafepress'r! Welcome to the darkside, mwahahaha!!!

I hear what you're saying, I'm wondering about the possibilities of making money like I am over at CP as well. For one thing, it's so much more time consuming making one product at a time. But if you're looking for big mark-ups, check out my shop. I brought my CP mark-ups with me to Zazzle, and I've already made a few sales with them.
