I just looked it up... it was a 5.0
That's one thing I don't miss since we moved from CA to Boston. It's such a helpless feeling to have the house shaking.
So sorry you had to go through it.

Pam It was about 20 miles from me...no wonder it felt so strong. They usually arent so close and dont feel as strong. We had a 3. aftershock. Helpless feeling. Sometimes the quakes feel like a rolling sensation...but this one was a rumbling roaring one. Like a huge train coming. Oh Lordy...

Too far north to feel it. We have been having a lot of power grid cuts - lots of areas taken off line to conserve power. April/May are earthquake months for CA.
As a follow up:
Not to worry - you are ok - if you are feeling anxious - get out of the house - take a drive. Being inside can contribute to "that" caged in feeling.
I will say that I experienced:
1988 Santa Cruz centered Earthquake - I was in downtown San Francisco as this massive quake hit.
1999 F5 Tornado in Oklahoma - Hunkered down in OK City - this twister tore through one block leaving another block untouched - massive vertical steel I beams were bent in half.
So don't worry - you are OK

I was in a 3.9 rolling quake several years ago (late 90's), right here in NC (just north of Charlotte). That was enough to shake me up, having never been in one before. I couldn't imagine being in one bigger... You lot in Cali are a brave bunch!

Yes ! I felt it ! It felt like someone picked up my apartment building by a few inches, and then put it back down. Then we rolled and rolled for a while. Sometimes the way it feels is what kind of land you are on - solid rock or sand or mud or whatever. It makes a difference how you feel it. If you roll or jolt or..... I am in Hollywood by the way - maybe a 30 minute drive from the epicenter. I am glad that is over. I'm sorry to hear you got shaken up. This is why I like Kansas...we just get tornados, and they don't hit -everybody-

That's scary glad everyone is OK I've only ever experienced fairly minor Earth tremors in the UK I remember there was a spate of minor earthquakes around 3 on the Richter scale back in the 70s and there was one around 5.4 centered in North Wales back in the 80s which we felt in S. Wales, for a moment it kind of felt like the house was on wheels and hit a pothole in the road and jumped a few inches. Luckily though earthquakes are more of a novelty in the UK and are rarely above 5 on the Richter scale.

I'm sorry to hear that. Hope everybody is ok and there is not to much damage.
Lucky I'm a german and we don't have that kinda earth quakes. Now I live in Seoul and lucky me again all that stuff is in Japan and not in Korea. I really don't wanna experience something like that.

I've lived in California all my life and this earthquake shook me up just as bad as all the rest. Glad we are all okay. It's scary living on the side of a hill in one of those.

That´s why I´m glad I live here. It´s a boring landscape - but no floods, earthquakes, tornados etc. ... Glad to hear you´re ok! Hilly

I've lived in CA most of my life. Been through many shakers, the fathest back I remember was the 52 quake in Santa Barbara area. Dreamt the house had a pointed roof (like the pointed end of a cone) and it was spinning and rocking around on the point. Woke up to see my father being jolted from wall to wall down the hall. I also lived in L..A. when the Sylmar quake hit. Had just flushed the john ... boy did I think I'd just busted something..talk about a freight train. When the Northridge quake hit I was back in Santa Barbara and we felt the "rolls". It was scarey enough but I knew when we felt that "rolling" we were feeling the edges of sombody elses big one. Won't mind if I never go through another one. Need to escape from CA and are working on it. Glad everyone seems to be O.K.
