So how's it going after your first couple of weeks? Are you getting into the swing of your new job yet?! Just thinking about you Smile

AudreyJeanne, Thanks for asking,Love I’m plugging away at putting more products in my stores. I don’t like to use the Quick Create tool so I’m working on my system for adding products quickly without it. It works pretty well for doing monogram sets. But there certainly are times I wish there were not 26 letters in the alphabet.Laughing I’ve done a bunch of inlaid wood designs. It feels good when I get a whole set completed.

I need to apply my 38 years of manufacturing experience to producing high quality designs quickly. I certainly have had enough education in the "one piece flow" manufacturing process from "Just In Time", to "Six Sigma", and then "Lean".

The next thing I really need to tackle is doing coordinated wedding sets. I have only dabbled in a few wedding things like stamps and save the date stuff. I see that to really do well with wedding items, complete sets are what will bring in more consistent sales. I've been doing some research on what colors are in for 2011.

I’m still trying to wrap my head around the whole not having my life centered on going to work. It’s been very nice not having to go out in the nasty weather we have had in Milwaukee the last few days. I’m still recuperating from a rather severe respiratory infection that had landed my in the hospital for three days the weekend before I retired, so I really appreciate being able to give a pass to going out in the sleet and snow. Laughing

Here is one of my new wood monogram designs.

Just beautiful! I am like you and do not use quick create. I have developed my own system and it's just as fast in the long run. I just have to remember to do everything, sometimes I stop in the middle of creating things and don't get back to it!!!

Funny you mention about manufacturing, we had a small print wholesale company for years and I got really good at creating the systems to do things as efficiently as possible. That experience comes in handy around here :-)

Glad to hear you 're feeling better, take care of yourself!

Congrats on your retirement! small world, I just started my early retirement, well sorta, I retired May 27 and was off about 6 weeks and they asked me to come in and train my replacement. So the end of this week I will be done with 4 weeks of training my replacement.

Just like you, I hope to supplement my retirement with zazzle. I haven't had much time yet to work on it, but soon. Yay!

I love that wood design you posted above.

Congratulations! I retired at age 45 because of a back injury I got in the service that got worse over the years. Haven't regretted even one day of it. I am now 53. I will warn you though - if your job was high stress like mine was, give yourself a break and don't expect to destress right away. It takes awhile, but it does feel good to slow down and just have a nice, easy life.
One of the best things about it- you get to go places when everyone else is at work, so NO traffic if you don't want to be in it. Fantastic!
Have a great life.

You are one lucky kid. I was forced to retire on April 10 with nothing. No benefits whatsoever. That was after 19 years. I'm 71 now and trying to start a store.
