Yesterday I was sent a rejection due to copyright infringement. I assure you this is incorrect. I drew this image with my own hand from my imagination. I didn't swipe or sample anything. This isn't fan art or an homage, so there must have been a mistake. I replied to the email and even filled out a survey asking what basis there was to make such an accusation. I suspect it has to do with me going overboard on the tags, but I'd like to know for sure. So when I resubmit the image and spend several hours customizing an entire product line, I don't get rejected again because something is setting off a technical alarm.

You can respond to the email, and ask them what was wrong. They will tell you.

Well, since there is a tag limit, you can't go overboard on them, but you can break rules if you tag spam (IE: using tags that aren't relevant to the design) and/or using tags that infringe on others. Descriptions, and titles, are looked at, too. They must be relevant and non-infringing.

One thing I forgot to mention in the top post was I wanted to know what tags could have triggered it. I didn't use any direct brand names. I did reach at a few political stretches, which could be considered irrelevant depending on what you could subjectively draw association to.

Artsy Farsy-Like I said I sent a reply and haven't heard back. I'll try sending another email.

Not always, sadly Sad I didn´t get a reply, not even writing to proseller support.

I'm finding i get these more and more now for no apparent reason. All my work is original but its usually something to do with a combination of the image and the keywords.
A 3d astronaut character of mine composed to show him eating popcorn at the movies(!) infringed I believe because it had the keyword "moon" and "alien" and "movie" in the keywords. There are films called "Moon" and "Alien", this must be what it was for!
It gets silly but I just redo the product and change the keywords.

@HitRender,
I would imagine it was 'Alien' and 'Moon' in combination with 'Movie' which caused your problem - I've certainly used 'Alien' and not had the products pulled.

Steve.

@Steve - Exactly! Unfortunately these keywords were highly appropriate but a threat to someone elses IP/Copyright. Funny really.

It doesn't really mean that selection of words is a threat to anyone's IP. It is simpler than that. It is cheaper to be automated even if it risks false positives. I'd guess that is what is going on. They try to choose what will most likely identify infringements. It won't be perfect. We are more likely to hear of the failures than the successes so we can't even guess at the false positive rate.

Regarding asking what was wrong and not getting an answer, I just figure I have to write to Zazzle 3 times. The first two replies are "automatic emails." The third one gets human attention and you usually get an answer.

Lots of helpful info about tags in this thread. Hopefully you will get your product reinstated without delay.

I'll bet a lot it was tags. Tags like rainbow, unicorn, fantasty, creature, horn, hoof, angry unicorn, mad unicorn, rabid unicorn would fit........ political? You lost me there and that's probably where you lost the (c) software, maybe using a trademarked name? Smile

The product was not removed - it was an original painting by my husband of a glass of whisky with icecubes. The tags were also no the problem, neither was the title (Iced Drink). I wrote and told zazzle this, and when it wasn´t removed wrote to ask what the original reason for flagging it was. I got no answer to several emails to several addys including proseller support.... Would have been interesting to know the reason though.

Strange you never got an answer about the flag Hilly, but great that they removed the unnecessary flag! I'm glad your product was not removed.

kirk_mccosker, I hope you heard from Zazzle and that you got your items reinstated!

HitRender, I just read through this thread again and it really is hilarious that the very word combo that applies to your image triggered the original rejection. Great image! Pass the popcorn!Laughing
