I'm not sure how I just saw this now, but as someone who has the goal of just working for myself for my entire life (with odd jobs if need be) it's really inspiring to know it can be done. Great job

It is an old thread, but motivating. I've been working for myself for several years after quitting a job with an abusive boss, but after quite a few years as a private English teacher (with and without a boss), I got worn out (carrying a heavy bag of books, a dictionary and a CD player on public transportation working from early morning to late evening can wear you out. Even if my friends don't understand why.
I still offer private classes from my apartment, but demand is only high in offices and I live far from commercial areas so I'm thankful that I've started getting regular payments from Zazzle.
Thank you for this encouraging thread. The weeks I only get 1 sale (from any store) can be so discouraging. & thanks to Zazzle for having a site that SELLS.

Congratulations and I agree that it should be against the law, but then again, most major corporations that work and take advantage of their employees should be aways! I am so happy for those that have made it to full-time with this. It is very possible and then we can tell all those bosses to go away!

Congratulations on being your own boss. I am also trying to be my own boss but I need a mentor. Can you give any tips to a newbie like myself on how to become a proseller?

So, Customizables, I'm just seeing this nearly 2 year old thread now (Ummm...so, I'm a bit slow!). Anyways, I was just wondering how it has been working out for you since you originally posted this thread. Are you making enough money on Zazzle to keep working "just" as an artist? I hope so! But, I'd love to read an update on how it's working out for you. If there already is one somewhere, I apologize for the question...maybe somebody could post a link to it? Congrats and God bless! Rose

Hi, Artists4God! I'm still effectively self-employed. I did take a part-time job at a local after-school program teaching an arts & crafts class, but it was only for a few hours a week and the bulk of my income still comes from Zazzle. I've expanded to doing handmade items, which I sell at local farmers' markets and might be selling online soon, but have not yet had to pursue a "day job" to cover my bills. I am still "just" and artist. ^_^

Today, I clocked out of Wal-Mart for the last time! Starting now, my occupation is "Artist".
WOOOHOOO! First of all, congratulations! I wish I didn't ever have to have a "day job" again. I have a couple of questions so I can figure out if me wishing for that is just silly: 1. Did you quit Wal-Mart because you're already making enough on Zazzle to do that? Or were you planning an quitting to try and make Zazzle pay enough? 2. If Zazzle is making enough money for you to quit the day job, how long did it take you to build that level of sales?

1.) I quit wal-mart because I was finally generating enough income from zazzle to pay my bills. I had been working at wal-mart to pay the bills while I spent my free time building up Zazzle.
2.) It took about a year and a half from the time I started my main store until it was earning enough to support me.
