Wow, Benin in Africa. That's so cool. It's great to sell in far away places, isn't it?
I was surprised and delighted to have sales to Dubai and also to Novosibirsk, Russia. I looked up Novosibirsk on the map and it seemed so far away. But even knowing that a bunch of people were invited to a Golden Wedding Anniversary party in Shepperton, United Kingdom, with invitations that I designed was exciting and seemed exotic to me... whereas I'm certain that anyone from England would laugh at that thought. But if they sold to someone in Texas, Montana or Malibu, California, they'd be very excited, themselves, at the far off exotic places their products were going. Haha... it's all in the eye of the beholder. But you have a great point about how far and wide we reach with Zazzle... and it's just going to grow wider over time.
I hope others follow up this thread and let us know the exotic places they've sold... even if it's not exotic to anyone else.

That is so cool. Africa does seem really super exotic for me. I sell to the UK quite a bit. I have sold to Germany and Japan a few times, Same with Australia, France, and New Zealand. Once to Italy, Israel, and the Czech Republic. I have sold a few times to Brazil but each time, those sales went pink. I love reading your stories.

I don't have Israel or the Czech Republic. I've found a National Geographic wall map that I'm going to hang and start "pinning" the countries as I make a sale.

I had a sale 'stick' in Brazil. The first time she placed the order, it went pink very quickly after ordering, but then she reordered, and I saw this time she had customized some of the products. So I am thinking that on her first order, she didn't customize the text in Portuguese and therefore cancelled maybe. And then that 2nd time, it 'stuck'.

I like tracking where my sales are from. I have created a Google Map to do so (I think you can see it if you click here) My most "exotic" place has been Turkey (a sailing themed T-shirt).

Being from Australia means that all my sales are exotic! The high cost of shipping to get products here means that I get very little of my sales from nearby. Almost all of my sales are to the US, with far off place names like "Sinking Spring" PA, or "Dumfries" VA. There is the occasional sale to France, Germany or Spain, too.

Ema, Bah ha ha! I know where both those places are and they are pretty ordinary! At least you didn't get any from Blue Balls or Intercourse, PA! (real places) Funny how our ideas of what is exotic just depends on where we are and our circle of experience. I would think of Turkey as exotic, for example. And Australia! The world is a wonderful place. Kara

Bkmuir, I checked out your link to Google maps but it doesn't come up with your markers. Boo hoo.
Bezizzled, I agree, Turkey isn't truly 'exotic', but it is far far away from me now, though I did grow up there. If I sold to Turkey now, I'd be jumping up and down with excitement and calling it 'exotic'. I loved Capadocia... Goreme and Urgup. (Do tell us the name of your favorite hotel!)
Exotic is anyplace far, far away from where you live, don't you agree? Heck, if I sold to Alaska or Hawaii, I'd think I'd sold to an exotic place, and I'm American. They're just far enough away.
From my US sales, I think that people in the more remote cities are the most likeliest buyers and shop on the internet more than people in big cosmopolitan cities. Do you find the same thing?

For me, stuff I sold in America and England went to quite exotic places, as live in Jerusalem.

I've had sales in a bunch of different countries, like Germany, France United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Japan, and a few more. I don't remember if I had any sales in Turkey yet or not, but I would love to have a sale from there. I lived in Turkey for 2 years many years ago, and I loved it. I lived in Izmir when I was there. Stirring up some great memories. Thanks! Lynne

Sorry about that - it took some investigating to find the correct link. Here is a new linkI tested it and it does work.

BkMuir... that map is really cool. I'm impressed, not only with your sales numbers and how far and wide they are, but also with your organizational skills! Thanks for reposting the link. Bezizzled... thanks for sharing your delightful story of your time in Cappadocia. I love Turkey, too. It's been much too long since I've been there. As a vegetarian it wasn't easy for me to eat there, especially since I was a picky teenage kid! The people are so hospitable that I'm not surprised that they let your wife cook and didn't charge you. (I can also tell you're lovable people.) Your kite story reminded me of watching the ten year old Turkish boys easily get a piece of wrinkled paper up into the sky on a string, something I never mastered. Lynnes_creations, I lived in Ankara for six years, but that was a long time ago. I loved it and I had my first horse there. Where I live now, many would find very exotic, though it's not that way to me. I'm in the southwest of the US. Nearby are Pueblo Indian villages where the festivals include deer dances and corn dances, just the way they did thousands of years ago. But today they are educated and many are doctors, lawyers, inventors, artists and so on... The scenery around me looks the same as an old western Hollywood movie with red cliffs and flat topped mountains. I own six horses, myself. At the local bar, I heard that sometimes cowboys go in with six shooters strapped in holsters around their hips, just like in the olden days. These are only a few of the things that some would find exotic about the area where I live... Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. It's fun that we are all sellers here, most of us have art in common in one way or another, and most of us would think that where each other lives is exotic... or at least where some of our customers live is exotic. Being exotic is cool and so are we.

Thanks for sharing! I am glad some of you are visiting and liking the idea. Yes it is fun to see where your items are going to. I hope some of you also create your own maps. Have fun. I too understand that wherever you are NOT is perhaps exotic. The everyday things tend not to be exotic or exciting - it is time to look at your surroundings with new eyes and see what might be exotic near you. I sometimes visit a nearby park to see the peacocks (an exotic bird) that are roaming "somewhat" wild. Or, I drive a ways out into the valley to watch the wind turbines turning in the wind. Or, drive to the coast to see the sealions sunbathing on the rocks ... the world is exotic!
