Can anyone point me in the right direction to get the W-8BEN form and instructions on completing and submitting to Zazzle?

Don't worry, I've found it

Are you 100% sure? The "info form" says that the IRS will take 30% as withholding tax and we need to fill in the form and send it.
Have you done that?
I am very reluctant to fill in a form for the IRS I have to admit and I am pretty annoyed that I would have anything to do with the IRS.
I signed up with Zazzle because it said it has an Australian Branch and I was assuming that all my taxes would stay in Australia.
And yes, I declare all my income, from Zazzle and other internet ventures (redbubble for example), to the ATO.
I have set up my Zazzle account to 20%, so I get 20cents to the dollar. If the IRS takes 30%, I am left with 14cents to the dollar. Then the ATO takes its cut as well and I am left with about 8cents to the dollar...
Seriously thinking about packing it in and removing my Zazzle account Sad

The IRS will only take withholding tax from non-U.S. residents whose country of residence does NOT have a tax treaty with the U.S. (Australia does) or anyone who does not submit the W-8BEN form required by the U.S. from Zazzle to provide evidence of their situation. Filling in the form is to avoid having anything withheld. Zazzle does have these various international domains, but it is an American-based company. Fulfilling the requirements to continue to be paid without having U.S. taxes taken out is a very straightforward process, already successfully gone through by untold numbers of Zazzle storekeepers from all over the world (and has been much discussed on the forums).

Don't pack it in, nor remove your account - just fill in/send Zazzle the form!

Yes Australia is in the treaty, but our % is not as high as others.. 5% get with held once you earn over USD $600 per financial year (USA financial year, not ours)

Im a Silver ProSeller so have had the 5% taken out. Zazzle doesnt actually detail how much they take out.. but if you calculate of what the amount they say you will get paid..and to what you get in your paypal account.. its 5% less

and each year around March - you will get mail (snail mail) with the total amount of money you have had withheld. Not much we can do or claim it back, i asked my accountant :/ So when im doing my bookwork i write down the amount of income after the 5% been taken out

hope i made some sense Shocked

By the way.. Hello to all other Australians Smile Im in Wollongong, NSW - been here nearly 2 years now, was in Melbourne for 7 years before.. dunno where next Laughing

I would ask your accountant to check on that again as I went through to the ATO last year and I was told that I could claim what the IRS took out as a foreign tax credit so that's what I did and will be doing again this year.

I'm in Brisbane, Qld - not sure if I've said hello on this thread before Grin

G'day from sunny Sydney.

I'm totally new to this and my store is still under construction. Been wanting to get onto this for years though! Exciting stuff.

I was wondering about that tax form so thanks for talking it through.

Are there many Sydney zazzlers around? I'd be keen to have a coffee with anyone who knows the zazzle ropes, my shout.

I'm new here and a bit confused. I went to fill out my payment settings and read this:
Tax Information
Because you reside outside the United States and Zazzle is a US-based corporation, we are required by law to collect a signed IRS W-8 BEN form from you before we can authorize payment on your account.

So I thought that ruled me out after all that work of setting up shop... so I proceed to tell those who I'd shared my Zazzle store with that I can't do it.

Then I went back to Zazzle payment settings and decided to fill in the details and see what happened. Now it appears that everything is okay, and the store is okay.

So how does this work for us Aussies?

Hi from Rural Victoria Gippsland, Shocked great to see so many Aussies

RE: tax and payment. You will have to declare earnings but with recent changes if this is your only income you will be very lucky to pay tax.Stick out tongue Furthermore if you do then it maybe worthwhile getting a ABN (A Business Number?) and getting some tax back for computers, programmes, artists materials, camera, electricity etc.

I am still working out what is the best way of being paided would love to hear what you are choosing. Still my money is with Zazzle.

Zazzle pay via cheque(USD only) or Paypal. Bank will charge me $15 per US cheque and Paypal charge 2.5% on transfer of moneies...

The way I see it stings both ways. I have no friends in US so I can't ask them Sad Looking in to getting a US account but looks like to have one you need a high balance. Also now checking UK old (accounts) (as moved from UK 2010 hence now doing zazzle) as if I can find a no fee way.

Any suggestions as I was hoping to make a go of this but the loss of money before you even get anything seems a bit steep is is worth continuing. Still don't have a problem with the old redbubble account as Aussie...

Hi there

I'm a kiwi living in QLD, Australia. I'm new to Zazzle. My pet art is a little sideline to my little pet sitting business.
