But you still would break them up into sub-categories, one for each photo, right?

What would be your suggestion for titles for the sub-categories then?
I think Cherry Blossoms #1, Cherry Blossoms#2 etc. would sound even more horrible. *g*

I'm getting more confused. LOL!

I've noticed that you keep mentioning categories for "each photo", and I'm not sure of what you mean. If you mean that you'd like to know if every single photo needs its own sub-category, no, not necessesarily. Like I said above, you can put photos with pink cherry blossoms in the same category...the same sub-catgeory as the main focus of the image would be pink cherry blossoms. You don't need to worry about the background being a gray sky or a blue sky. Just focus on the fact that the design's main feature would be pink cherry blossoms.

No, I wouldn't go with Cherry Blossoms #1 or Cherry Blossoms #2 if it can be helped.

You've got pink blossoms with a blue sky, pink ones with a moat and more pink ones with raindrops.

You have a main category titled Cherry Blossoms. You could have put subs for each color of blossom under that as they're all pink cherry blossoms.

You could have had - -

Cherry Blossoms (main)
>Pink (sub)
>>Turquoise Background (sub-sub under "pink")
>>Blue Sky Background (sub-sub under "pink")
>>Raindrops (sub-sub under "pink")

...etc, as I previously mentioned about keeping those of the same color together.

As for "turquoise moat", are you talking about an actual moat that would surround a castle, or am I lost? If you mean one like in front of a castle, I haven't seen it. I've seen a blue/turquoise background for the pink blossoms under the "moat" category. If there's no moat to be seen, you shouldn't use the word as it's misleading/spamming. It looks like a blue/gray sky with a bit of a white cloud to me. Please help me to understand better. Thanks.

I see that you've added "Two Lonely Cherry Blossoms" as a category, but nothing showed up for me. If you're going to go with that as a category, are they going to be pink or white blossoms that could fit under the category with the others?
You have one titled "Beautiful Pink Cherry Blossoms". You already have other categories for pink blossoms. Will these not suit well under any of those? If so, that would cut down on the list of main categories.

Slow down and take note of your main focus for the subject, to help you realize that you have a lot of images that could fall into the same categories.

If you mean that you'd like to know if every single photo needs its own sub-category, no, it does not. You go for the theme. You have many photos with pink blossoms, so that's a theme and a main focus.

Thanks for taking so much time to help me out!
I really appreciate it! Love

Sorry for the confusion.
Yes, I was under the impression that I just add a new sub-category for each photo.
Simply because I thought it's getting too crowded if I have about 20 different photos on ~30 products (20x30) all in the SAME category.

I agree that sorting by color of the cherry blossoms makes sense.
Most of the photos feature pink cherry blossoms.
Somebody clicks on the sub-category "pink cherry blossoms" and 19238109238 products show up. That's why I thought that I maybe should make a sub-category for each photo.

But you suggest that I use the color as a sub-category and the actual photo as a sub-sub-category, right? Smile
That's a good idea! Idea

And sorry, I just added the products / sub-categories (Beautiful cherry blossoms and Two lonely cherry blossoms) which is why they don't show up in the shop yet.

I also added new photos to the "Castles of Japan", but I guess they're not showing up yet.

And thanks for mentioning the "moat". I guess I'll just replace the word "moat" with "background" ;)

Thanks so much! :3

You're welcome.

I'm glad that you now understand better about the sub-categories not being needed for every single photo.

If you go by way of the example I added, it should be fine.

Yep, remove "moat" and that'll be best.

You're welcome, again.

Wow, Zoomingjapan, you've been busy!

I love the changes you've made and your photos are gorgeous! I really love the little photo and pen icons you added to your category images - genius!

I think the category divisions you have now are fine, but I wonder if you might want to add sub-categories once you reach whatever number of images fits in each section. Using the cherry blossom example and assuming you had 20 different cherry blossom images, as a customer I'd want to see Cherry Blossoms as a main category and then have sub-categories by image.

Again, your photography is lovely and I'd want to make sure someone looking for a blossom image would see all your blossom images before they choose whether they want one on a mug or a bag, for example.

Keep up the momentum - you're an inspiration to me!

PS - DreamNWish - thanks so much for the insight you've been offering here! It's really helpful to me too!

You're quite welcome. I'm happy to know that I'm helping others with these tips, too.

I'm sorry that I couldn't reply any earlier to thank you guys!
I've been banned from the forum! Sad ..

Anyways, yes I've been working very hard!

@Quidama: Thank you.
I'm not sure what you are refering to as I have added sub-categories, even sub-sub-categories to the cherry blossom section.

I'll keep working hard.
Let me know if there's anything else you would improve.

This forum is really helpful.
I appreciate everybody's advice.

Too bad I've been banned. Sad

EDIT:
I'm planning to create a few calendars.
Some will be themed like "Cherry Blossoms 2014" or "Japanese Castles 2014", but I also want to have a general Japan Calendar.
Would it make sense to create a main category for Calendars in this case?
The cherry blossom one I could put into the cherry blossom theme, but what would I do with the general Japan calendar?

I saw a lot of others who organize their store by theme have an extra category for calendars.
