OK, I've been on Zazzle several years now, but have never really utilized the "Referral" links, mainly because I am not really sure how it works and how to set up a referral link.

I am not sure if I am linking one of my pages or products to someone else's store or the other way around .. or where to place the link

I know what my Referral number is.

Anybody care to help?

Thanks,
Bill

I'm pretty new to zazzle too but I've learned a bit about referral links. If I'm not mistaken, referring within let's call it the 'zazzle network', i.e. from one store to another does not count as referral. You only benefit from referrals when you bring customers to zazzle from an external site.

You only have to to add you referral code to the end of your or anybody else's store link.

That's my two cents Smile Hope it helps

Can I ask you something too please? I just had a look at your store which is really nice and also saw that you are a pro seller. Would you like to share some of your promotion strategies?

thx artiful

Zazzle has a great page with all kinds of helpful info about referring, linking, etc.

You will make the links to your store from outside Zazzle - such as on a blog, website, squidoo, etc.

I'm just getting into referrals too. I made my first self referral sale this week. I was so happy when I made my 10% profit from the item, and then another 15% from the referral. That could really add up!

I have found the best way to make referral links is to go to the product's page, and click the Link button next to all the SoCal media buttons. A window will pop up with the link already made with your referral number (ias long as you are signed in). Copy that and paste it into the page you are building. A lot of people use squidoo lenses, or blogs, or Facebook and twitter.

Hope that helps. And any tips you can send our way on building our stores for newbies like me would be greatly appreciated.

I too, am confused about the associate thing.

If I place my referral link on someone's blog, lens... who gets the referral?

If I allow them to add their links to my blog, lens... who gets the referral?

If I create a page or whatever and add many store links to it myself, who get the referral?

Should I add my referral number to the end of someone's store address, or will the link only work with their number?

1. your referral link = you get the referral

2. your referral link = you get the referral
their referral link = they get the referral
(the link/store before the refereal number is irrelevant)

3. look at no.2

4. look at no.2

Just to clarify: I'd say 'referral number' rather than 'referral link' since the 'referral number' is just a part of the whole link.

Hope it helped a bit. For more confusion, just leave me message Smile

Thanks so much. It's a little clearer I think.

So, I make a page somewhere online and add my link either with or without a pic.

Then, when someone clicks into Zazzle with the link I get a referral payment even if they buy their item in a different store after they get to Zazzle. (?)

So, it's a good idea to add my l link to any page that allows me to do so. (?)

What are the 'Gallery' pages I have seen?

Exactly, either you post your link (which can be any store link + 'your' referral number) or you add it to an image. To draw some $ from your referral, the consumer can buy from 'any' store as long as he entered Zazzle via your link.

The Gallery is intended as a 'promotion vehicle' on squidoo.

If you want me to, i can add you to the gallery. Also feel free to like it and comment on it if you want.

artiful,

(Sorry, I promise I'm not really as dense as this is going to sound.)

I am still a bit confused.

If I add my store URL with my own 'referral number' I get the referral fees. (?)
If I add a different store URL with my own 'referral number' then I get the referral fees. (?)
If I add my own 'referral number' to the zazzle.com URL then I get the referral fees. (?)
If I allow other zazzlers to add their URL with their 'referral number' to my page then they get the fee. (?)

What you are saying is that any link that is created to any page that is contained in zazzle.com that has my 'referral number' added at the end will earn me referral fees. (providing of course that there is no other referral number added already)

That's correct; you can put links to Disney, Harry Potter and whoever you like on your website/blog etc., and get a referral fee if anyone comes into Zazzle via one of those links. If someone clicked on your Disney link and then continued to explore Zazzle buying items from various stores as they went then you would get a referral fee for all those purchases. And as long as the cookie which is placed on their computer is not deleted or overwritten by someone else's it will stay 'live' for 30 days - so if they come back you could earn some more!

Steve.

Thanks so much, Steve. I want to use the link/number correctly. Now that I've 'got it', I'm off to use it everywhere!

All correct except for the third. You can't just add your or anyone else's referral number to 'www.zazzle.com'. There has to be your or someone else#s store between like e.g. www.zazzle.com/artiful + referral number

PS: that's just an example Smile
