I am still having this issue as well. I understand grouping, but wish we could still sort the products even though grouped.

Same here. Still having the issue. I also understand grouping -- this is different. My front page is showing the correct order. My subcategories appear to be ordered by newest (but show my correct custom order in my "back room"). The store looks sloppy like this. I'll probably open a ticket on this too, just so they have the numbers. Not sure how I'd prioritize my open tickets (I would have this one, "broken images on see-on-x-styles", and the "zoomed-out-view for shirts making text/design un-browsable").

This is so frustrating as it seems there's only a few of us. I opened a new store and it doesnt have this problem. If Eric or Becky or any Zazzle people at all browsing the forum could you look into this urgently as it's putting me off making new designs just to watch them get jumbled in with my old stuff or disappear to the back pages straight away? Im feeling a bit unloved at the moment. group hug anyone?

My problem was with just one category not showing custom sort order. So hope this helps someone with the same problem.
I was having a custom sort order problem, but with just one older category. Doesn't make sense,- all other categories show custom sort order. So yesterday I created a "new" category for it, with the same cover design and similar title. Then I moved all the designs from the old to the new category, deleted the old category, and redid the new name to match the old one. It now has a custom sort order. Easy if you only have a couple of categories to do.

Thanks, I may try that. Unfortunately, I think I have links "out there" to some of those categories. if there are any zazzle mods. browsing can you pop by and let us know if there is any update on this problem? Still got catagories stuck on 'new' if I change to 'popular' it doesnt show the same as in my admin pages. And 'custom' just gives the same order as 'new'. Any word would be appreciated

I gave up on custom sorting products in categories a while back because it was time consuming and rarely displayed correctly in my store anyway. It doesn't tend to display them in new order either, just a jumble.
Today my front page categories are out of order.

This may only help a few people, so will post: I just created a "new" category, moved my older products into it, and noticed there was not a "Custom" Sort Order in the Drop-down Selection at the top. I've had trouble in the past with custom sort order, so I was frustrated, and assumed Custom wasn't working. So I made another, and again, no custom order listed. So I went ahead and tried moving the products anyway,(which worked) and as soon as I moved some around, the Custom Order, appeared in the drop-down listing, and it worked fine. So don't assume it's not working til you try moving products to a different order - it will jump start the custom order,... at least it did for me in a new category. This doesn't apply to some problems listed above, but hopefully will help someone who's new.

Since yesterday I have not been able to remove from or add anything to "featured products", and in "all products" the sort order has changed to "newest", even though I hadn't set them to that. I can't change anything, nothing "sticks" Oh wait.....ok, products are just now removed from "featured", but they are still showing on my store front.......maybe if I give it some time it will settle? Yep.....it did right itself.
