Hi-
I don't know if everyone realizes it or not, but the rest of the tie that doesn't appear in the design view is white.
So, when you design a tie, you may want to choose a background color that matches or coordinates with your design, or the customer will have a white knot on his tie.
You may want to make a screen print of the Zazzle color palette so you can match the background of your design to a color you know you will have to choose from when you create your product.
Hope this is helpful!

yup - only the part of the tie in the design view is covered by your image. The tail is white - unless you choose a background color.
Unfortunately, the backside of the tie remains white no matter what

I was wondering about the knot, Kerry! Thanks for the tip! Are they nice ties?

yes - they are nice. My husband has one and my brother has one. They look nice with suits/jackets/vests - but the white backing bugs me if it's just a shirt and tie - but that's just me.

I hadn’t tried ties because I didn’t think my designs would work. But what I learned from Kerry’s information helped a lot because when I added a background, selected all and tiled the image, I got a pretty nice result. I am also glad to be assured that the ties are nice. Now all I need to do is to find someone who would like one.

On a similiar note, if you open the image you're using in an editing program such as psp or photoshop you can select the background color and get the HTML code number for it and put the same number into the color palette on the design tool so you get the exact same color!

Oh my! I wish I had known that long ago!! Oh for the ability to delete your own products now. The backs still being white is kind of odd though. Thanks for the info! Looks like I'll be checking my ties this weekend. - Grace

So really the only option just now is to make just white ties ( to a zazzle employee.. do you get a lot of ties returned because of this? )

DT_Graphic_ART wrote:( to a zazzle employee.. do you get a lot of ties returned because of this? ) The short answer is no - we hardly if ever see this. We take a *lot* of pride in our low return rates. But overall, this is great feedback on how we can and should be improving our tie product. On a related note - we think lots of dads are going to be surprised this Father's Day with their own new custom ties

This is the reason I always use the PNG format when I design ties. The PNG allows transparencies (the alpha channel) for example the background, which means I can change the color of the tie at any time without needing to change the image background. Take a look at my duck ties as for examples.

Ok, so if I use a background color, that color will be printed on the back? I hope so. I don't have many ties, but I'm pretty sure the ones I do have background colors set . . . I hope they turn out ok.
(Mind you, I think the only tie I've ever sold was on white, anyway . . .)

Unfortunately, the backside of the tie remains white no matter what Oh boy, I didn't read this part before. That still is not good then. The back side needs color too. I'm not happy.

Ah, misread that, I guess. Pity. That's something that needs to be looked into.
