Using Quick Create has not been a particularly productive experience for me, especially putting designs on dozens of different items at once. However, even using it in a limited way has not been effective.
Case in point. I am currently creating designs for dark apparel. For each design I am creating a men's shirt, a women's shirt, and a kids' shirt.
OK, there's a QC option to put a design on dark apparel -- meaning men's, women's, and kids' shirts. Cool! So I tried it, and it worked -- but not well.
I went to my product gallery and edited the three shirts to change the models and the colors to my liking. But later, when the shirts appeared in my store, they all had the default appearance (default models, and black color on all of them).
Is there an alternative to QC for easily putting the same design on different products (or at least, different products in the same category, such as shirts)?
Once upon a time, I stumbled on a "Duplicate" button, which I think I was able to use to create at least a second shirt with the same design, without jumping through all the usual hoops. However, I haven't seen it since. Did I dream it?
What has been others' experience with Quick Create creating products with unwanted (and unchangeable) default configurations? Any suggested work-arounds?
Steve
P.S: I see by an announcement that Quick Create is currently unavailable for apparel. Wondering if it might be "fixed" when it comes back?

There wasn't anything generally "wrong" with Quick Create's default configurations. They are and were changeable. The best way of dealing with Quick Create is to make your own set. Ignore the Zazzle provided ones.
Since apparel is no longer in QC the most efficient way of creating different apparel types with the same design will be to create one. Wait 15 minutes or so. That is so the categories etc "set. Find it, click Customize and make your new choices. If you keep going back to the original you won't have to wait the 15 minutes.

All right, that worked! Thanks.
Is this something that everyone except me was aware of?
I knew it was possible to customize one of my products, but I assumed (incorrectly I see) that doing so would simply overwrite the pre-existing product. Glad to know that's not the case.
So, I started with a product I created last night - a particular design on a woman's dark t-shirt. On the product page, I clicked the ghostly "Customize Me" button. I chose a size, and then changed the style to a man's dark t-shirt. Then I clicked "Post for sale."
On the merchandising page, I had to add a title, and set my options (in this case, "dark only"). But ...
The product description was still there, the tags were still there, and my product and store categories were still there.
Finally, all I had to do was check the "rights" box and submit.
So this is great. What I hated most about doing products one at a time using the same design was having to retype the title and description (even if I was just copying and pasting) and adding tags. Oh, yeah, and adding the image each time.
Thanks again. This will make my work a good bit easier.

I'm new here and having trouble creating tshirts. I know the QC is not working now. When I click "create a product" (just below the Create Products button), it lets me create one to post on my site with size, etc... but it doesn't post to my store. It gets its own url. How do I add it to my store? I'm logged in and I got to the "create a product" button from my categories page.
Thank you!

@Janet,
All products have their own URL, and they appear in the Market Place (MP) before they show in your store, they should show in your account area reasonably quickly (when you create them individually), but there tends to be a variable delay before they show in your storefront.

They only index once a day. And things can take longer on weekends and holidays.

Yeah, don't expect to see your products appear in your store for several hours ... or for even up to a day. If it's been 24 hours or longer you might start to get concerned. But in my experience, everything will appear in your store eventually (assuming you have posted it for sale and not just made it for your own use).

How long does it take for the templates to show up? I keep getting the message none found and check back in 10-15 minutes
I clicked the icon in the product creation page where you check the boxes and I made sure the "make this a template" was checked -- am I missing something that is not creating them as templates? I keep them all in the same category as hidden products

I suspected as much, but wanted to confirm. Thanks, Steve!

I usually make my custom template sets about a day before I actually intend on using them. Sometimes if I make them in the morning they'll be ready by the afternoon, but I don't count on them until the next day.
