Im a bit confused about this, I was reading that to place an image with white parts of the image on a black tshirt for e.g you need to change the image in photoshop to transparency for it to work and look right etc. If you try to put an image that has not been converted in that way onto a product the white part shows up with grey flecks in it.
However when I have placed an image that HAS NOT been converted onto a black TOTE BAG it looks normal, does that mean it will look ok when it is made, i am a bit confused about this?

What you see is what you get, so you should select the method that works best in the preview.
Depending on the type of image, png transparency may work best, but for that you need to make sure that all the areas you don't want included are 100% transparent, especially if your original image is on a white background. According to the Zazzle help, partial transparency is not supported, so maybe that's why you had problems.
